If you are thinking of changing your hard drive for a bigger one it becomes a little more difficult.
However if you want to just remove it and put it back, its easy. On one end of your PS3 there will be a small cover which is prised out. Under that is a little blue screw. Take this screw out and there is a little metal pull out clip that is attached to the side casing of your hard drive. Pull the clip backwards and your hard drive will slide back. You can then remove it from the PS3.

How to remove the hard drive on a Playstation 3 Slim

Removing the hard drive on the PS3 Slim is simular to removing the hard drive on an original PS3, however the drive is in a different location.

Note if you are upgrading PS3 hard drive you will need to back up your data first so that you are able to put your files back onto the new hard drive.

1. Make sure you have all your cables unplugged from the PS3.

2. Turn the PS3 upside and locate the hard drive access door (it will be at the front of the system next to the small info sticker).

3. Ether with your finger nail or a small screw driver lift up the cover.

4. Next carefully unscrew the blue screw. Note you will want to make sure you get the right size phillips head to make sure you do not strip out the screw head. On the few systems I have seen a PH1 head you be the right size you need.

5. After you have the screw removed you will want to slide the hard drive cover to the right to expose the hard drive.

6. Next pull down on the lever and pull strait back in the drive caddy to remove it from the PS3.

If you have remove the drive to upgrade the drive you will want to unscrew the drive from the caddy and install your new drive.

If you have removed to corrupted data on the hard drive the link below will walk you through formatting the hard drive on your computer just skip to step 4 as the first steps are for removing the hard drive from the original PS3.

Hi i have a problem on my ps3 slim it shows cannot start the correct hard disk was not found can you please help me

Some possible solutions, from easiest to hardest:

-Unplug the PS3 from it's outlet, then replug it back in.

-Restore the PS3 to it's default settings by turning off the console, then pressing and holding the power button for around 10 seconds (it'll beep a few times).

-Remove the hard drive from the console, then put it back in. Here's a detailed guide, but basically you use a screwdriver to remove the bottom hard drive panel, then pull the metal handle to pop it out. You don't have to remove it from it's frame; once it pops out, just put it back in.

-Try the PS3 Safe Mode, options 2, 3, 4 and 5 (3 might delete data, 4 and 5 definitely will).

-Replace the hard drive. The PS3 uses standard 2.5inch SATA laptop/notebook hard drives (5400 or 7200 RPM). They can be found online at any computer parts website; for example, Tigerdirect.

Send the PS3 back to Sony. If you're under warranty it's free; otherwise it's expensive (150$ I believe). They take forever to send it back though.

Good luck!

My xbox360 game doesnt read

things you can do:
1.) Clear System Cache. To do so, on My XBox, go to System Settings then Memory. Under the Memory Units, scroll to the Hard Drive (don't select it, just highlight it) and access the Device Options (Y-Button). Select Clear System Cache. Then restart your console.
2.) Try removing the Hard Drive, if you have. Turn off your console, then remove your Hard Drive. Turn it back on, and try to play the game.
3.) After #2 and still doesn't work, try removing all memory units. Turn off the console, remove the memory unit and/or USB Flash Drives. Turn it back on, and try to play the game
4.) is this happening with just one specific game disc? or other game discs too? • if this is only happening with this specific game, have you tried using the game disc in a different console? It is still didn't work, you may have to replace your disc • if this happening with other game discs as well, you might have to call it in for a repair or visit to process a repair online.

Can i replace the HDD of the PS 3 and if i can how do i do it?

it's really easy.

You just need to remove the side panel, and remove the single phillips screw that holds the drive in place.

It's pretty basic.

Then you just swap the old hard drive with a new one.

I'd recommend ANY hard drive 80-500 gigs that runs at 5,400 rpm.

It has to be SATA.

You can get them on the cheap from

After you place the new drive into the system just follow the onscreen prompts.

Playstation 3 problem

If it doesn't even load to the XMB or only gets to the XMB and freezes, then it's the hard drive. Remove the hard drive and try a different one. It will ask you to format it, say yes, then it will turn off and back on.

Also, just to keep up your machine, get some compressed air and use the straw it comes with to blow out your PS3 to remove most of any dust build up.
