SOURCE: VIA Chrome9 HC IGP vs Samsung 940BW Plus (1440x900)

Assuming you're using the latest drivers from here , the next step would be to ask MSI for a bios upgrade that supports the higher resolution.

I have SAMSUNG LCD 943 MWX monitor which is 19"

This is not a monitor problem. This is a mother board problem, some mother boards are supporting this resolution. For this problem, you have to replace the mother board or put the graphics card on the same mother board.your problem will solve.

Suddenly, I can see only a part of the display width. I can't control the width size in the screen setup (all the other functions are OK)

see that it may be from the resolutions..if you give it a smaller one ..and it is a wide screen format ...it will hae black 2 inches wide band on each side... just right click on desktop properties and settings ..and restore a normal resolution on it ..

I cant fit the whole image on the screen. The options to adjust only allow me to adjust the width...it wont let me show both the top of my windows open AND the start button.

Your resolution may be set to high on the computer. Or you have a standard screen resolution set and since the monitor is a wide screen, it is cutting it off.
Try a different resolution 1440x900 is what the va1930wm uses.
If using a laptop with a standard type screen on it, you may have to set the laptop to just light the monitor to allow this setting to take.
Since this monitor is a wide screen, it may have options in the menu to stretch or zoom on an image if the resolution is not set to a wide screen format.

My son has a Dell Inspiron 1300 hooked to my wireless port. The computer when we received it had full screen, but now the width has a gap on the left and right about an inch or so. the height is ok. Is...

Go to Start >Control Panel > Display or Personalization (XP vs Vista)
Display Settings.

Adjust the resolution... The bigger the numbers are ie. 1440x900, the smaller the font and icons, the larger the resolution ie 800x600, the bigger everything gets and fills the screen back up.

Try several settings... Windows will give you 15 secs to make up your mind or revert. You'll find a happy medium doing this.

Windows XP Not displaying fully on 1440x900 resolution.

If you have one of those older CRT monitors you should be able to resize the image. Some LCDs have screen shifting tools too. Try doing a full restart, too. (shutting your computer down, waiting 1 or 2 minutes, then starting it up again.)

Width increases a bit on lowering and incresing resolution

Hence my earlier suggestion of lowering the resolution, it was actually a test.

Now we are getting somewhere. Yoke is definitely out, opposing diode pair is also out. The remote chance of the horizontal sync/oscillator is also out. That leaves us only with a possible resistor that has gone up in value (or is open) (least likely) and/or a capacitor (most likely) that has leaked, bulged or whose capacitance has gone down.

Perhaps a service manual would be of more help.

Good luck.
