HP 1610 printer photo paper jams

Hi I have an HP 1610 printer that fails to print on photo paper (jams), normal paper still prints fine.
The paper feeds in up to the rollers, sometimes a jam is reported, others it begins printing without feeding the paper making a mess inside the printer.
I've tried 2 different brands of photo paper, photos print ok on plain paper. the printer settings are set of photo paper.

Solution 1 does not appear to have looked at the problem stated, just advises how to install the printer.

The actual problem is that he printer is very slightly damaging the edge of the paper as it first begins to feed it, this causes it to get stuck at the rollers when trying to print. The damage is minor but is visible and can be felt by running a finger along the leading edge that went into the printer.

I've not been able to find what exactly causes the damage, there is no debris etc. in the way.

The problem can be worked around by lifting the lid when the print starts, slightly lifting the roller where the damage is and closing the lid. Printing resumes and completes successfully.

Paper jams on epsonXP605 expression printer

Printing photos from the back feed? Using special photo paper? Try cleaning the paper rollers that feed the paper. They get slick.

Photo Paper keeps jamming

It's the top rollers, the paper is too slick to get through them. I'm using HP photo paper, in an HP printer. It needs to do a 180, but gets jammed right where it prints, so the paper never makes it to the ink. It's an engineering problem by HP. I suggest putting a rough surface on the top edge of the photo paper, something removable but rough enough for the printer to pull the photo paper through.

Photo printing errors

This is not the fault of printer. Choose those type of photo paper, whose thickness is equal to executive bond paper. This type of printer do not catch the thick photo quality paper

Paper pulls to the right, jams, won't print, tried different paper still won't print

Hi,
Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth, bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then
Try print.

Regards
Richard.

Can not get the card to feed the printer

This printer isn't designed to take heavy paper, only office standard, and slightly heavier for smarter documents / photos. Best idea would be to print one on smart bright white paper (or desired colour), and take it to a copy shop where they can print onto card. The problem is that the thin paper will easily roll round the rollers at the back, however the thicker paper can't, and therefore jams with the rollers tickling the end of it.

Good luck, and congrats on wedding :)

Samsung ML-1610 Does not print after a paper jam

HP paper jam

That is usually caused by the paper feed rollers being cover with paper dust. Take a clean cotton pad and alcohol and clean the rollers :turninig each roller as you clean it. if it has a rear dor, open it to get better access to the rollers.

Paper Jam

hi y'all -

you share a frustrating problem... error message but no apparent error (jam)! it's one that's common to many models of printers and the result of many different causes.

I've seen it when I've printed on cheaper paper, or different (lower) grades with odd surface finishes. the sensors get dirty, or the printer/computer 'thinks' there's paper stuck where none exists. I've opened/closed paper trays 2-3 times and rolled feed rollers around multiple times, then closed printer paper drawers only to have the 3rd time of doing the exact same steps be the time it cleared the error message.

there are often very tiny pieces of paper stuck in weird places in the paper path in printers, too. if you did have a jam before the message started, is every little scrap of the page accounted for? there are also hard to get to places to find paper scraps in larger printers, but I'm going to assume you're all talking about home printers.

here are a few general HP support links you may find helpful for future paper jam messages for this model of printer.

this link is for general info for this model:

here's a link addressing paper jams in general:

and here's one on cleaning your printer:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00016484&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=304535

hope this helps a little bit for future refs. remember that using good paper helps print quality and lessens printing problems. also, when you take a stuck page out of a printer, doing so gently will help ensure little scraps of paper do not tear off paper edges and get stuck in weird spots. it some times helps to gently, manually, roll the feed rollers a full turn around in the printer, too. patience pays! -JW50
