Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
Resolving the frost in shoot problem .
Remove the top freezer door hinge cover , and disconnect the plug there . This removes any power , going to the door . If no plug there , remove the bottom kick plate , by removing the screw on each side in the front , and disconnect the receptical from the wires comming from the bottom of the freezer door .
Remove the dispensor control board , by prying , or pulling , from the bottom of the board . Disconnect the 3 plugs to the board . You should now see the white dispensor cover , being held on by 4 screws . Remove these screws , and slide the cover out .
In the top right , inside the dispensor area , you will see a solenoid with a plunger , with the door flap arc , inserted into the plunger . Usually rust inhibits the movement of the plunger , keeping the door flap from closing completely .
Remove the 3 screws holding the plunger and solenoid ( part number WR62X10055 ) and replace . Cleaning will not help , due to rust will return .

SOURCE: Ice dispenser
Hi Wilday1, Sounds like you have a possible defrost malfunction. In this case the Ice maker motor may have become iced and cannot turn the auger. Tell me if you have frost buildup at the back of the frezer and ice crystals on the auger drive. If you do , then you need to remove the Ice makers motor and allow it to thaw and defrost itself. be sure it is completely dry before putting it back in. I hope this helps.

this could be the:
door switch (usually 2 switches, 1 for the light and 1 for the dispenser) auger motor itself the dispenser switch or the plug near the hinge that connects the door the the refrigerator has a bad connection. this connection is hidden under a plastic hinge cap usually.

SOURCE: Ice Dispenser does not work.
agree, but add most common problem is tray not installed(inserted ) correctly not seated Above solution is good cause most common reason is ice buildup preventing proper seating So after cleaning make certain it goes all the way in and it should sort of SNAP or click into place AND SHOULD BE LOCKED IN If is pulls right out, then u are n ot getting it in properly You should have to press a button or lever to remove it also check that metal wire arm is DOWN to make ice lastly the corkscrew thing must turn to dispense ice, you should hear it turn and stir the ice If it makes noise(hum and ice noise) then the chute thru the door is just clogged good luck

Check the water filter - it should be at the bottom of the fridge - turn it 1/2 turn to the left. After several months of use (less if you use it a lot) the filter can clog.
