It can be faulty dispenser control board and ice-maker needs to be replaced. If there is no sound at all or any movement when the ice or water dispensing function is pressed then this indicates faulty control board. The other possibilities are faulty freezer door switch or faulty water valve. The valve which lets the water in the unit to dispense water. check that water valve is getting 120 volts when dispenser is pushed in. If no voltage, then its faulty. -------- Dispensing Functions The water, crushed ice, and cubed ice functions are controlled by the main control board. To select a function, press the appropriate pad on the dispenser. The LED will light to identify the selection. To dispense the selected item, depress the dispenser cradle located in the dispenser recess. The solenoid and linkage assembly will open the ice chute door to dispense the ice. If cubed ice is selected, the crushed ice bypass solenoid will allow cubed ice to bypass the ice crusher. The ice chute door must remain open for 5 seconds after dispensing ceases. After this 5-second delay, the solenoid and linkage assembly will shut the ice chute door. The dispenser light will come on automatically when the dispenser cradle is depressed and will fade out 5 seconds after it is released. The dispenser selection is recorded in the main control board. In the event of a power failure, the last selected function will be restored.
Dispenser Light The LIGHT pad turns the dispenser light on and off. When the light is turned off, it will fade out. The dispenser light will come on automatically when the dispenser cradle is depressed and will fade out 5 seconds after it is released. The LIGHT pad will not turn off the light during dispense. ------------- Dispenser Lock When the dispenser system is locked, no dispenser command will be accepted. This includes the dispenser cradle and will prevent accidental dispensing that may be caused by children or pets. If a pad is pressed with the system locked, it will be acknowledged with 3 pulses of the LOCK LED accompanied by an audible tone. To lock or unlock communication between the dispenser and the main control board, press the LOCK pad and hold it for 3 seconds. The LOCK LED will flash while the LOCK pad is pressed. When the communication is locked, the LOCK LED will be illuminated. The status of other functions, selected prior to the initiation of the lock feature, will be displayed. If the lock is engaged while a mode is active, the LED will remain on until that mode times out. If the lock is engaged when the filter timer expires, the LED will come on but cannot be reset until the lock is turned off. The lock feature will be retained through a power outage. -------- To check the parts and where it is located please click on the link directly Check on page number 12,13,14. ------- You can get required parts from or from Thanks. Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working
There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

My Samsung Model: RF4287HARS refrigerator stopped DISPENSING ice. It makes it, but only water comes out of both push levers now. I get ZERO help from samsung customer service. There is nothing in

The problem is actually in the dispenser lever. The paddle that you press to dispense ice has a plastic lever/arm that extends behind it (you can't see it, it's up high in the assembly.) This plastic lever presses upwards when you push the paddle and presses into a switch. The switch actuates the ice. This little lever is also the ONLY thing that stops the paddle from continuing to press into the water paddle. So when the lever breaks, it creates your two symptoms - no ice and if you press further, you press the water switch and get water.

You need part# DA97-08519A. This is the lever assembly with the switches. You pry the control panel assembly (the whole digital display above the water/ice dispenser) out by inserting a slim pry bar (I used a pocket knife and didn't damage the finish) on one side and working my way around. The assembly is held in place by five plastic tabs (two on each side and one on the top.) When this is removed, the part# above will be obvious.

Ice & Water Dispenser Suddenly Dysfunctional; LED lights, too!

Cory, you sound like you have a bad water valve as well as a bad control board for your dispensor. If you've had any storms in your area in the past 4 - 6 weeks, it's very possible that the storm took both parts out.

We have parts for GE as well as mots other major brands, so please give us a call with your complete model number and we will get your parts out to you right away!

We hope this solves your problem and we look forward to being able to assist you with future issues.

Have a great evening.

I have a 12 year old Whirlpool side-by-side refridgerator (ed20db) with water and ice dispenser. I have not used the water dispenser for years, but for some reason when I hit the lever yesterday, it did...

you have a possible water valve that is not shutting off all the way on the water dispensing side, it has 2 coils, one for ice and one for water. the other possibility is the dispenser tank is frozen, from being too cold in the refr. section and thats causing water pressure to continue running even when not pushing the lever. let the unit warm up slighty on the refr side and see if you can get water to flow properly.
if not working after warming up, then you might have to replace the water inlet valve.
