Question about Optics

1 Answer

I need a manual for a Rokinon ST-60910 telescope (Rokinon 910 x 60 Refractor Telescope). I purchased it from and it comes with no manual at all. It does come with the lamest CD made for a computer about 10 years old. And I don't believe the CD had instructions anyway. More like pictures of stars or something. HELP!!

The manual WILL NOT show you how to find objects in the sky. Also which Rokinon do you own the number you gave is not enough information. See this web site:

More information needed and you will NOT find a specific assembly manual for that scope. However they all assemble in a similar fashion based on TYPE of telescope-- Refractor or Reflector.

Meade brand maintains a web site with all their manuals. Look under either the REFLECTOR or REFRACTOR header for one that is similar to your scope and download it for free.

Again the manuals DO NOT TELL YOU how to find objects in the sky. I would recommend that you buy these two books which will help you learn what you can see at night.

"Turn Left at Orion" and "Nightwatch". Both are available at any large bookstore or on

Read my TIPS on my profile page, and read these two web sites to learn about the TYPES of telescopes and MOUNTS for telescopes.

Yes, Brother Guy, a Jesuit priest had a hand in writing Turn Left at Orion. He was a guest speaker at one of our club meetings.I have been in the hobby for over 15 years now and still learning. My best advice would be to locate a local Astronomy club and join and attend their meetings and star parties. They will help you with your telescope, and in learning the night sky.

This is an imported telescope probably from China. You will not be able to contact a manufacturer. Never buy a telescope off of Ebay, at a garage sale, from Wal Mart, or craigslist, unless you know exactly what you are buying.

Buy from either a local telescope shop or online from reputable retailers like these:

Your scope appears to be on an equatorial mount which must be polar aligned in order to be used. Google "polar alignment" and learn how this is done or read my TIPS on my profile page.

Eyepieces come in 3 sizes .975, 1.25, and 2 inch. Measure the hole in the focuser. Any of the retailers listed above can sell you an eyepiece.

Does it have a name on the scope? If it has a MIRROR in the bottom it is a REFLECTOR.

If it has a lens on the front it is a REFRACTOR. Look on Meade's manual web site under the header REFRACTOR or REFLECTOR for one similar to your telescope.

Yes you should be able to see the moon and several of the planets. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope (put the diagonal in first and then put the eyepiece into the diagonal). DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one. Just too much magnification for a 70mm telescope.

You will not find a manual for that brand BUT Meade has manuals for all of their telescopes. Look under the header--- REFRACTOR-- on the page below for a manual similar to your telescope.

This is a small refractor style telescope. You will not find a manual for that telescope. However MEADE telescopes maintains a web site for their REFRACTOR telescopes. They all assemble and are used the same way.

Look under the REFRACTOR heading on this web site for a manual similar to your telescope:
