Sounds like you have a driver problem. Update your driver though the windows update website or go to the manufactures website for the latest driver.
Test the driver updates before you deem your hardware as bad.

There are two ways to install the driver:
Install the driver using the wizard.
Forcely install the driver
Right click on the icon that has the yellow mark
Click update driver
Choose install using specific location
Open the driver location
Then proceed to the Installation
Last restart the computer and check if you got still the yellow mark.
Note: Check the operating system and the adapter maybe there is a compatibility issue.
