Question about Goodman CLQ36AR49 Air Conditioner

Fan on outside unit spins counter clockwise pulling air in instead of forcefully blowing air out as it should. This fan doesnot look reversible, could this be the wrong fan or is there a way to reverse it? Product brand is Goodman and the model is CK36-1A

Air should be coming out of the top. It will work either way. If your fan is reversible it will have a sticker on the side explaining how to reverse it and it will have exttra wires plugged into each other right at the motor. good luck

Condensor fan spinning in reverse

THE MOTOR IS A 3 PHASE MOTOR JUST SWITCH ANY TWO WIRES TO THE MOTOR AND THE MOTOR WILL RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION. BE SURE TO DISCONECT THE POWER TO THE UNIT BEFORE DOING THIS.

Central air conditoner outside unit

Well, the answer is yes. I have seen a bad capacitor cause a fan motor to run backwards. BUT..... After replacing the capacitor and WIRING it up the right way, everything should be fine. A lot of aftermarket condenser fan motors are reversible, so it can run counter-clockwise (CCW) or clock-wise (CW). However, most factory fan motors come one directional and on your specific unit, the air should always push out of the top. Running the unit with the fan going backwards will actually some-what do it's job, but damage other components like the compressor because it runs at higher operating pressures than what it is designed for.

Have someone else look at it! That's going to be the best advice I can give you. If they can prove that a capacitor caused the motor to permanently run backwards..... I want to know! Hope this helps and good luck with your unit.

Old 30 + year old trane. Fan in front. Coils in back. Should the fan be spinning clockwise or counte? I assume it blows air out the front, pulling air pass the coils. Also have to push fan to start. Assume...

It should pull through the coil and blow out the front. The best way to find out is look at the coil. Is there dirt on the inside of the coil or the outside? If there is dirt on the inside, it tells you its been blowing through the coil. If there is dirt outside the coil it tells you its been pulling through the coil. Generally, pulling through the coil gives more square inches of air passage across the coil. Hope this helps.

Hello, I had to replace my outside condenser motor with a universal motor and need to know if it should turn clockwise or counter clockwise, it's a 3 ton and the motor hangs with blades down....

Heres what you need to look for when you turn the motor on it it sucks air downward you have it going backwards. Reverse the two leads that are connected by plastic coated leads most of the wires are purple and yellow. The fan should blow upwards it probably going to be clockwise but now you know what to look for. If this helps please rate me and do a testimonial.

My air conditioner is blowing warm air in the house and cool air outside. The fan outside was stuck and not spinning so I gave it a nudge to get it started now the unit seems to be running in reverse.

You will need to replace the fan motor. Basically when the system starts running in reverse the fan motor is shot, and the electrical is telling to motor to spin one way but since the winnings are shot then are making the motor spin the opposite direction.

Fan goes in reverse instead of pushing air down it goes counter clockwise. How do i reverse it?

1.) this model uses a remote control controller to operate its functions
2.) the reversing is done via that remote.
3.) the link is wireless
4.) do you have the remote?

Compressor fan motor runs backwards

Most likely a bad motor or bad capacitor. I would check the capacitor first as this is probably a $20 fix. The fact that it runs in the correct direction but at a reduced speed really leans hard to the capacitor.

Good Luck and hope this resolves things for you. Let me know.

Fan is spinning the wrong way

Have you checked to see if there is a switch on the fan housing? Usually this is how you select the direction the fan is spinning. If it's spinning clockwise as you look up at it, it's blowing air up. If it's spinning counter-clockwise it's blowing air down.

The remote not working could be:

- it needs resetting/synchronizing with the receiver, or

- the battery (ies) is dead, or

- the remote (transmitter) or the receiver is bad, or

- the receiver has loose connections.

Check the owner's manual -- do you have one?
