When you remove the brush, the release button resets a trip fuse on the pcb. If that does not work at sounds like you have either blown the rectifier pcb or burnt out the DC motor that is in the brush head. You can get a complete replacement brush head for 70 pounds.

Hi,
I can recommend is to unplug it, turn it over and see if there is anything obstructing the roller brush such as string, tinsel, rocks, etc. See if you can turn it with your hand without using much force. Good luck!
Download the manual from the given link and see PDF page no. 12...
Hope this has helped you... Thanks...

Dyson Vacuum, brush won't spin

I just picked one of these (DC-07s) up at a flea market, and even talked the price down since I didn't see the brush spin when i power tested it. The brush will not spin if (1) the vacuum is fully upright (i.e. the handle is all the way up, or (2), if the brush clutch is disengaged. The system has a clutch to engage or dis-engage the brush, so that you don't have it kicking debis all over hard floors. Looking down from the usual vacuum-driver positing, it's on right hand side of the brush/motor/wheel assembly. A (probably) grey cylindrical knob that can be turned toward you for hard floor (no spin) mode, or away from you to engage the brush for carpet.

If neither of those works, check that the belt is still attached. Disengage the clutch, turn unit over so you can see the brush. Try to spin it. It should spin freely. Now engage the clutch and try to spin it. If it still spins freely, the drive belt is broken or missing, at which point you'll need to look up the replacement process (not difficult) online and get another belt (or see if it just came loose). The belt is secured under a cross-over piece on the bottom plate for the brush, so it can be a bit of a pain to get to.to check it's still there, so the ease-of-rotation test is easier.

Hoping this helps, and good luck!

I have used my dyson dc39 perhaps a dozen times tops and the brush bar won't stay spinning. I've stood it upright and turned it off, clicked the brush power button. Spins then stop-makes pop sound.

If it's like my DC-07, the brush shouldn't spin if it's upright, and also won't spin if you don't have the clutch for the brush fully engaged. Make sure that the back of the unit is tilted off of the fully upright position, and check that the brush clutch is all the way engaged - there may seem to be a middle setting, but that isn't really where you want to be. Hoping that helps.

The brushes on my Hoover steam spin carpet cleaner will not spin.

Hello, their is two reason why the brushes don't spin, one would be the brush brock is broken, take out the brush, and mnake sure their is a plastic two inch shaft sticking out, if not, then the brush block needs to be replaced, if fine, the the turbine is frozen and will need to be replaced, take the lid off and replace the black turbine, I can send you anything you need, or if you have any questions feel free to call 1561-848-3387 Thank you, Teresa.

Brushes won't spin on hoover steam vac ls

I have the SteamVac Dual and there's a screen on the underside of the unit. It's beneath the brushes and it's red. You have to pull and wiggle it to get it out. With the machine unplugged, lay the unit with the handle on the floor. In the owner's manual ( http://www.hoover.com/pdfs/manuals/F7222900.pdf ) this is shown on page 10 figure 3-2. Clean that screen.
If they still won't spin, then take the brushes out. Again, with the unit on the floor, you simply grab the unit firmly and pull towards you. It's much easier to remove than the screen. I took the brush unit outside and blasted it with the house. You'll have to pull out whatever fur balls are clogging it but eventually you'll see that the brushes spin freely with the water squirting on them. Plug the brush unit back in and - in my case - they started spinning.

Brushes not spinning....

My status light came on, the vac beeped twice and stopped. I noticed my brushes weren't spinning. I took an eyeglass screwdriver and took off the center screw that holds on the brushes. I cleaned the shaft that the brushes spin on. replaced brushes and it works great! I just did this now and it is still running. my status light problem is fixed my roomba is 4 years old and I am on my 2nd battery. Seems to have fixed the problem. FYI it was wrapped with hair, dirt and it was greasy.
