Question about Bosch Dishwashers

1 Answer

She45M dishwasher, that is relatively new (07) and recently it has not been rinsing soap out of the glasses. We tried Glisten, had a service repair out twice. SEems to be getting lots of water, but there is a TON of soap residue. We can't use it until this is resolved.

Hello, welcome to Fixya. If the water at your water supply is indeed hot it shouldn't be an issue, but try running the hot water at your sink tap to insure the cold water is out of the lines just before you turn on the dishwasher. All detergents require water temp. greater than the supply line will allow to work correctly and to desolve for a proper rinse as well. Hence the dishwasher must heat the water to work correctly. If it is what I suspect, the control, this won't make any difference but it's worth a try. If on the other hand the water is good and hot entering the machine, you likely have an issue with the control as I alluded to. "repairclinic.com" carries them as part # 1102296 at a retail price of $185.65US however,( double check with your actual model number AND serial number as there are a couple of version of control modules ) I have a suggestion as to identifying the culprit if you're open to it thus confirming or dismissing the cause...but you may want to call in a pro. Since the issue with your Bosch dishwasher potentially lye`s within`the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. You'll need to access the control for a visual inspection ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ). To inspect and possibly repair your unit It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board. This will be one of the pins from the heater relay. **Further to this, if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on there behalf nor do I profess to know better. Replacing the control will certainly remedy the problem. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?) **Please disconnect the power before attempting any service to the dishwasher...safety first**. If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro as I alluded to earlier but with a word of caution, Insure it is one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens to service your machine. Hope this answer`s your question's, let me know if I can assist you further. I will look for your reply. Please do reply either way, I've found after answering many of these questions I'm left wondering if the info was of any use to those asking. I don't know if perhaps a pro does get called in those cases and the "fixya" thread gets abandoned but I hope not. Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair inquiries. Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness to you and leave a testimony if you're satisfied. Good luck. macmarkus :)

Have Kenmore Elite 665 11yrs old, bakes soap on dishes top and bottom racks. Tried powder and liquid soap,no difference.Tried water heat with no rinse dry,no difference.

That seems like it's probably related to the recent ban on phosphates in dishwashing soaps. Quite a number of people have found that their dishwashers aren't working as well and are leaving spots and soap behind now that phosphates are not being used.
A little vinegar may help, but the best answer would be to use a water softener.

Recent changes in the law prevent soap makers from putting phosphates in dishwasher soap so they're not as effective as the were even a few months ago.  Unfortunately,  the solution is more thorough rinsing before loading.

Recently glasses started to finish foggy and

MOST OF THE TIME "FOGGY GLASS" IS A RESULT OF SOAP BUILD UO IN THE DISHWASHER. IF YOU HAVE A WATER SOFTENER AND FILL THE SOAP CUP ALL THE WAY THEN THIS IS THE CASE. FILL A COFFEE CUP WITH WHITE VINEGAR AND PLACE IT ON THE UPPER RACK, RUN AN EMPTY LOAD ON HEAVY DUTY WASH, THIS WILL STOP THE PROBLEM, YOU MIGHT NEED TO REPEAT IT 2-3 TIMES BUT IT WILL WORK, AFTER THAT JUST USE AS LITTLE SOAP AS YOU CAN, IN MY GE I USE POWDERED CASCADE BUT ONLY FILL THE SOAP CUO TO THE BOTTOM LINE, WORKS GREAT. GOOD LUCK

Soap residue on glasses & silverware

Try changing the type and brand of detergent as some are better than others. Could the water softener need service? If you wash/rinse any dishes in the sink, do they have the same problem? Good luck!

My dishes ang glasses are cloudy *** well as the doors

The cause of the cloudiness is usually due to hard water drying on the dishes and can turn into etching (or pitting) of your dishes. If you have particularly hard water it is well worth investing in a water softener or filters. 2nd; Use plenty of rinse agent (jet dry or similar). Rinse agent gives your dishes a sheen (almost like waxing your car) and helps the dishes dry quickly and cleanly. 3rd; Clean the d/w every 1 to 3 mths. using a good cleaner. Hard water deposits can be cleaned with a little CLR. Use GLISTEN to clean your d/w. Glisten is not found in grocery stores but can be found online or at an appliance parts shop for 5-6 dollars. Dishwashing detergent will etch fine glassware. Don't wash them in the dishwasher.

Kitchenaid built in dishwasher superba suddy glasses

I recently found out that I was using way too much soap. I was told by the repair person to use no more than 2TBSP in the main compartment and not to put any in the extra one. He said if there are suds inside you are using too much soap, so maybe that will help.

the problem is hard water. this is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system and it actually filters the water going into the dishwasher. i tried everything to get my dishes clean but nothing worked until i tried this system. my glasses all had a white, cloudy look to them and it was terrible. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. it is very affordable and works amazing. the filter fits right under the sink and solves the problem immediately. if you use the discount code DFMTEN you will get 10% off
