I bought the Denon DM-30 bookshelf receiver with SCM-50 speakers about
a month ago. It sounds great, *except* that in standby mode, after
about 30 seconds, there's a faint click, and then a highpitched static
whine kicks in from the unit (not the speakers). It's pretty quiet,
but in a bedroom at night it's a nightmare!
I sent it back to the seller, and they despatched a second unit, which
does exactly the same thing!
So, the question is - is this a known problem with the DM-30, or have
I just been incredibly unlucky with the two receivers I've had. I
spoke with Denon's customer support, and they said 'no', but referred
me to the retailer.
Anyone out there with a DM-30 care to comment?

[DM30 noisy in standby mode]
Mine doesn't, and I'm generally sensitive to anything like this. I have
a DM30 in my bedroom and I'm unaware of any noise when it's in standby.
In fact, I've just been and put my ear very close to it - can't hear a
thing.
Is it possible/likely that it's not a fault in the Denon units
themselves but some kind of environment problem?
FWIW I've had the unit about a month.
