No connection to internet through Belkin router in secure mode
I can connect my laptops to the Belkin router N F5D8636-4 when the security is disabled. All connect to the internet. When I enable WPA security, two laptops connect no problem but the third connect to the router and not the internet. When I ping from that laptop, there is no response. It also shows as a public network even though I change this to private I have deleted the connection and then detected again, Belkin tell me that it is a firewall problem but since I can connect to the unsecured network, I am not certain this is the problem. I am running Windows Vista. Any ideas?

Step 1: Connect your Belkin Wireless Router to your Desktop or Laptop with a cable on anyone of the 4 Wired Slots.
Step 2:Open Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.2.1
Step 3:You should be seeing Belkin Router Setup Utility
Step 4:Now on the left hand side Under Wireless click onSecurity.
Step 5:It will ask for login and by default there is no password,so click on submit.
Step 6:You will have the security mode over here and if the security mode is WEP then under Key 1 will be the password or
Security mode is WPA means uncheck the Obscure PSK on the bottom and you will having the WPA password under Pre Shared Key
So that will be your wireless password
The easy way to get password is to left click on Internet access bars near time on computer. When box appears showing wireless connections right click on your name connected to.In drop box choose properties then under security click show characters to reveal password.Hope this helps please rate
Make sure you entered the same key exactly the same way in both the router and the computer. Also, make sure you have selected a Security protocol that is supported by the computer. Some versions of Windows do not support WPA. XP supports it but really doesn't like to auto detect it. If it's a HP laptop make sure you are using a communications channel other than 6. Some routers give you an option to select the channel HP computers don't like working with channel 6.
Connect the router directly via lan to your computer.
goto setup of the router: usuallly via the ip-adress of your router (see manual, usually: 192.168. ***.*)
Now look at the network security-settings .
plug a laptop straight into the router with a cable. then open an internet browser and type in 192.168.0.1 type in the username and password. the default will be admin for username and password for password. then close the browser and unplug the cable. it might detect wireless internet after a few seconds. if it doesn't, it is possible that you have a PC set up as the internet gateway for the laptops or something, so when you introduce encryption the laptops can't get access. in which case you should go to your wireless icon on the laptop and click that and open the connection list. double click on the wap secured connection and try to connect. it should ask for a username and password, which you have secured the wireless encryption with. enter that and it should connect to the gateway. dunno if this helps, good luck chris email@example.com
In onder to obtain this information you need a computer that has internet connection through the router, if you have a main computer that is wired through the router then use that computer if not try to hardwire the laptop to the router(plug it to any of the number ports that say ethernet/lan). Access the setup page of the router by typing 192.168.2.1(deafult IP address of the router) on the address bar of your browser(i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari), type admin for the username and leave the password blank. Go to the Wireless Settings/Configuration tab of the router and verify the security mode(WEP or WPA)
