I have changed the armature (windings) on my makita BCS550 18v metal cutting circular saw but now it is going in reverse, any help greatly appriciated.

I believe the motor is a brush style unit (only an educated guess) I would revers the wire going to the armature. Most small brush style motors are polarity sensitive.

Makita strimmer model um3830 we cannot get the new line on and that is with the instructions. Can you help?

Take a length of about 6 foot of line, kink it in the middle and pass this through the hole in the spool. Wind the two lengths of line around the spool in their own divisions and in the same direction. The direction of wind is embossed in the reel and the line should be wound tightly and held all the while. When you have about 6-8 inches left in your hand, bring the cover up to the spool and carefully pass the two ends of the line through the holes, push the cover all the way over while pulling on the two pieces of line and ensuring that the lines stay on their own side of the division on the spool. Fit and tighten the bump nut and trim the lines to just about the cut-off blade.
The lines should trail out of the holes in the direction of the machine's rotation. Try cut with the tip of the line as much as possible. Cutting nearer the drum flexes the line and will lead to early breaking of the lines. Run the motor at a constant speed and rather move the cutting head in and out of the weeds to affect a deeper cut

My Makita BJV180 jigsaw will not do elliptical cutting even though I turn the lever to the elliptical cut position.

this saw has 3 orbital settings and one straight line setting .. in orbital mode the blade moves forward slightly on the up stroke and back on the down stroke .. it may be difficult to see and may not be pronounced without a load ...

Replacement of Cutting Line! How to do? anneodello

There should be a half sphere-like object on the bottom of the spool where the line goes. Twist counter clock-wise to remove.

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer: Then just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool. This may need to be longer than 7ft.

Can a malfunctioning capacitor suppressor in an angle grinder blow a fuse

yes .. the capacitor is across the line to reduce EMI ... (electrical noise ) if its shorted then it will blow a fuse .. its easy to check with an ohm meter once at least one end is disconnected .. it should read open ... if its bad it will read low resistance .. you can run the tool for a short time without the capacitor to see if something else is wrong .. your problem could also be a shorted line cord..

I have a weedeater brand weedeater and need to know how to take the spool off so I can wind more line on it?

if its the newer type all you need to do is grab the black knob at the bottom of the trimmer head and pull it carefully straight towards you and it should pop off
wind line on the spool in the direction the arrow shows you there is a small hole you put the line in to start the line before you wind it it is labeled .065 or .080
wind about 10-15 feet of either .065 line or .080 line and lock the line in at the edge of the spool and thread the excess thru the hole and push spool back on and pull each line until it unhooks from where you locked it in .
this is the directions to the weedeater heads and spools mostly used on this product.

if its two lines then pull out 20 feet of new line cut it and put the two cut ends side by side and insert the cut ends into their respective holes in the spool and wind in the direction of the arrow until you wind to the loop then cut the loop lock your lines into place and thread it thru both holes keeping the lines kind of tight and push the spool onto the housing as it snaps in pull each line to unlock it from where they were held so the bump feed will work.

hope this helps you

How do i replace the brushes in 9557pb makita angle grinder?

Take apart the rear portion of the case -- the part the cord enters -- two halves -- screws in side -- you'll see the brushes -- they are in holders held in by springs and plug into the winding.
