Right click on an empty spot of the desktop away from the icons, scroll down the drop down menu until you see something like Nvidia control panel or ATI control panel. If you don't see any of those then go to the bottom and choose properties. If you have the control panel up, look about halfway down for the text "Screen orientation" choose "landscape" or "0" degrees. If you can only bring up the properties menu, choose "display settings" look for "Orientation" and then choose Landscape from the drop down menu.

Fix black screen

Computer got you stressed?....................Life getting you down?...

Feel like if one more tiny problem comes up, you're just going to end it all?

.........GET OVER IT!

"$^&%^*&& HELP ME PLEASE #@%^&&^%^&*"

Don't ever come to this website, and post that again

Help me please?..................Yes

Moving on................

An external monitor works
Good. This way you know the problem is either the Video Cable, or inside the Display Assembly.

Video Cable:

With the Compaq Presario C700 series of Notebook PC's, the Video Cable connects to the motherboard; in an area under the Keyboard, and Switch Cover.
(Above the F4 key)

It then leads under the left Hinge, and up into the Display Assembly.
From there a small cable branches off, and connects to one side of the Screen Inverter.
The main part of the Video Cable, goes on to connect to the back of the LCD screen.

Example of Video Cable,

http://www.amazon.com/G7000-Compaq-presario-Video-cable/dp/B005NEPKTE

The large connector on the Right side, connects to the back of the LCD screen.
The smaller connector shown at Bottom connects to the motherboard.
The small cable leading up to the Top/Left, connects to the screen Inverter.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-COMPAQ-Presario-CQ50-CQ60-HP-Pavilion-G50-G60-G70-LCD-INVERTER-486556-001-US-/281024427508?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416e5c75f4

Just from repeated normal opening, and closing of the laptop; the Video Cable may become pinched, and pulled on. Sheath of Video Cable also hardens over time, and this also adds to the equation.

However, this laptop has been dropped. There's a real good chance of a problem with the Video Cable.

Pulling on it can lead to the connections coming loose.
Motherboard side, screen Inverter cable, and LCD screen side.

Procedure is to go through the various connections, and PHYSICALLY check them. Try to plug them in tighter.

Motherboard connection:
1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) Disconnect the Keyboard, HOWEVER do not disconnect the Keyboard Cable from the motherboard.

Once Keyboard is removed from Palm Rest Cover, take the LCD screen side, and roll the Keyboard over.
Bottom side up, lay on Palm Rest Cover.

3) Now remove the Switch Cover.
The Switch Cover is the wide strip of plastic, above the Keyboard, and below the Display Assembly.

The Switch Cover is just that........a Cover.
No wires attached.

Physically check motherboard connection.
Reinstall power. Turn laptop on.
No change?
Remove ALL power again.

LCD screen side connection and screen Inverter connection:
4) The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen, is the Display Bezel.
Remove it.

Right behind the Display Bezel, and mounted on the bottom/middle of the Screen Frame; is the screen Inverter.
Just physically check the screen Inverter connection, but go on to the LCD screen side connection.

The LCD screen is an assembly of layers. These layers are held in the factory set position, by a metal Screen Frame.
Resembles a picture frame.

Attached on either side of the Screen Frame, are Brackets.
The brackets are attached to the Hinges, and the whole assembly is just referred to as a Hinge.

There are screws that hold the Hinge brackets to the Screen Frame. There are also screws that hold the Screen Frame together.
Be SURE as to which screws you remove. You do not want to remove the Screen Frame screws.

Remove the screw that hold the Hinges to the Screen Frame.
Tilt the Top of the LCD screen forward towards you, and physically check the LCD screen side connection; of the Video Cable.

Lay the LCD screen back, put a screw in on each side, to temporarily hold the LCD screen in place.
Reinstall all power. Turn the laptop on.
Still no joy?

Remove the Video Cable.
The Video Cable needs to have a continuity test performed, with a multimeter set to OHM's. (1K)
Every wire in the Video Cable is checked.
No reading on a wire indicates a stretched/broken wire.

An assistant should also be used, to gently wiggle the Video Cable while checking.
An intermittent reading on the multimeter indicates a stretched/broken wire.

Or take the Video Cable down to the nearest small computer repair shop, and have the resident tech check it for continuity.
Should only be a coupla' bucks.

The Video Cable MUST be ruled out, before going on........

5) Video Cable checks out OK, or a replacement is used; and still no display on laptop's internal monitor, the screen Inverter is next in the diagnosis.

To test a screen Inverter requires a sensitive multimeter. Read fairly expensive,

http://www.fonerbooks.com/test.htm

Due to this, the ease of accessing to replace, and the usually low cost; the screen Inverter is just replaced.

6) If the new replacement screen Inverter brings no joy, then the problem is the LCD screen.

The F700 HAS wires to the Switch Cover. The C700 does not.
Just posting to give you a hands on look, instead of just a Service Manual.

02:59 - Here you can see how I described LEAVING, the Keyboard Cable attached to the motherboard, and just rolling the Keyboard over onto the Palm Rest Cover.

In Spanish, but a 'Picture is worth a thousand words', they say,

Not the Presario C700, but shows in better detail on releasing the Lock Clips (Detents), at the Top of the Keyboard,

(You won't need an ESD wrist strap for this procedure. However if you have one, wear it by all means.

IF, you remove the Palm Rest Cover, then you better be wearing an ESD wrist strap; and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source )

Black screen delld600

Several things can cause your Dell Latittude D600 laptop's LCD screen to stop working.

Two of the most common causes relate directly to the inverter board and the backlight lamp.

The inverter board is a thin circuit board placed inside the LCD panel.

It's main function is to transfer power from the motherboard to the backlight bulb inside the LCD screen.

If the inverter board goes bad or the backlight lamp burns out, the screen will appear dim or eventually go completely black.

Turn off the laptop, unplug the power cable, close the LCD panel and place the laptop face down.

Remove the battery pack from its compartment on the bottom of the computer.

Flip the laptop back over and reopen the display panel all the way until it is in a 180-degree position.

Insert a flat head screwdriver into the right side of the keyboard bezel.

This is the plastic strip situated above the top row of keyboard keys. Carefully pry the bezel from the laptop.

Remove the two Phillips screws located above the top row of keyboard keys.

Grasp the top edge of the keyboard, tilt it upward and lay the keyboard face down on the palm rest area.

Unplug the keyboard's ribbon cable from the motherboard connector.

Carefully remove the entire keyboard from the laptop.

Disconnect the video and speaker cables extending from either side of the LCD panel to the motherboard.

Loosen the Phillips head screws on each LCD panel hinge.

Carefully lift the entire LCD panel off the laptop's base.

Relocate the panel to a flat work surface, and place the panel so the screen is facing upward.

Use a thin, flat head screwdriver to pry the rubber screw covers from the LCD panel's front plastic cover.

Remove the Phillips head screws revealed by the rubber covers.

Carefully remove the front plastic cover from the display panel.

Locate the inverter board situated below the LCD screen, inside the bottom edge of the display panel.

Disconnect the two cables from each end of the inverter.

Remove the two Phillips head screws fastening the inverter to the display panel.

Carefully lift the inverter board out of the display panel, and dispose of it.

Repeat this procedure in reverse to install the new inverter board, and reassemble the laptop.

Hope this helps

I am moving and need to lay the fridge on its side, but have been told you cannot do so, is this correct?

You do not want to lay that refrigerator on its side because the refrigerant will leave the compressor and fill the system with liquid refrigerant where it should only be existing in a gaseous state, and if the refrigerator is tilted far enough over or lay-ed onto its side then the refrigerator will have to stand up-right and un-plugged for at least 24 hours before the liquid refrigerant will settle back down where it belongs, and then the refrigerator should actually function again if there was no other damage caused when moving the unit.

I need engine cylinder compression specs for 94 mx3 16 valve engine

A "Haynes Manual" on your car would help, but will not tell you compression values. A rule of thumb, is about 150 psi per cylinder...which doesn't really mean anything. What you need to do is remove all the spark plugs, have someone push the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and spin the engine over four times. Record the first reading (the first turn-over) and the last. Do the rest of the cylinders the same way. THEN, squirt 20 ml of oil in each cylinder and re-do the test (this oil seals the piston rings), and the pressure will increase a bit. Then compare the readings and if two adjacent cylinders are low, then the problem will lay in that area. A very High Compression reading could mean a heavily carboned combustion area, but the exact compression reading varies, even in new cars coming off the factory line.

Good Luck,

Can you lay a refrigerater down flat to transport it

Yes as long as the coils that carry the freon is located on the top side of the compressor when laying down. Look at the lines on the compressor. You should see 2 of them. 1 larger than the other. Imagine you are tilting the refrigerator. If the lines are on the right side you can it down on it's left side ok. If they are on the left side you lay the fridge down on it;s right side. Hope this helps.

Stand jumps

The height of the beater is easy to adjust on the tilt-head model.  Tilt the head back, and look into the pivot from the front of the mixer.  You should see a screw on the hinge.  With a flat blade screwdriver, rotate this screw half a turn counter-clockwise to raise the beater height.  Lower the head and check that the beater does not touch the bowl.  Repeat until the adjustment is satisfactory.  To lower the beater closer to the bowl, turn the screw clockwise instead.
