Re: bought a replacement remote that doesnt work......
First lets do a checking at your remote to make sure its working properly, how ? use a digital camera and point it where the LED or eye of the remote , when pointing the camera to the remote press any button of remote while watching the camera , if you see lights coming out its means remote is working .I did some searching myself at the website you purchased the remote, look like thet send you the wrong replacement. the right replacement model is MODEL: CLU436UI , not VT-RM6654a . hope this helps .

I have a samsung TI 20P1tv/video. I was told I would play dvd also but every time I load one it says 'bad disc' what does this mean as the discs I load work every time with other tv.s Am I doing something wrong? I have not got a manual .
Try Curry's partmaster. They have 3 ranging in price from £14.99 to 18.99.
You could also get a universal one, these are cheaper, but often don't operate all functions. Remotes are sometimes a lot more expensive than the 3 on Curry's site, think yourself lucky that you didn't pick up one at the boot where the remote alone costs upwards of £60!
Try a universal remote. If the uni. works then you now you have a bad remote control. If it doesnt work then the problem is with the VCR. remote sensor. As cheap as VCRs are now a days, not worth the fix.
Looks to me like you didn't need a new remote as the old one was working fine, it's just that the VCR remote censor has a fault on it. Or to put it simply it's the vcr that doesn't work, not your remotes.
You should have no trouble getting a universal remote to work the basic functions: power, tape motion, etc. But you may have problems with advanced functions such as programming or accessing any special features the model may have. Often only the original remote has all the buttons needed. Universal remotes don't usually give complete control. If you're just looking to play tapes, you should be good with any basic universal remote that.
is the remote still working on the vcr??? if so then simply take out the batteries for a few minutes and reinstall and reprogram the remote for the proper tv. if it doesnt work then the remote is bad and a new one avail on line or at universal one can be used The oart # for the Sylvania is N9211UD
