Have you added any new hardware/Software? Could be a bad PSU(power supply)
Make sure there is no damage around the connectors where the PSU is being hooked up on the motherboard.
Also make sure all the connectors are not loose or damage.
Make sure all components are properly seated.
how long is awhile exactly? did it start up at all or was the screen just black?

You will need to get into the motherboards BIOS settings. During the Power-on Self Test (POST), when the Dell logo appears, press the <F2> key. This should open a basic window of settings instead of Windows it's self. If windows starts you'll have to shut down and try again.

Here's a link to the manual:

Optiplex starts then swiches off on by its self

Press the on button quick and don't hold it down. If you keep it on just that millisecond longer it could shut down. Hope this helps. Get back in touch. Steven :D

Image does not

If you are saying the computer boots up but nothing shows on the monitor, then try the steps below.

It sounds like your monitor or video card has an issue.
Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays and works ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does not display then the Video Card inside the computer is bad.

OptiPlex GX280 PC Desktop only start de fans tun

I have had this problem and never quite got to the bottom of it. Because it doesn't get too far when in starts I think it is memory related or bios. Opening and closing the case can reset the bios on some computers so check this setting in bios, to stop it happening try turning of sleep or standby function in bios.
