Hi jazzcowboy,

Your Asus P4GE-V uses an intergrated graphics card.
Onboard VGA [Auto] Page 4-22. User manual.

If the bios is set to Enabled, the onboard VGA is enabled.
When you add an AGP card your bios will not see it.
You must change the bios setting to [Auto] so the system will see your AGP video card.
To download your manual for the Asus P4GE-V Click the link.

Yes, it is compatible, just that you must first uninstall the previous video driver, then configure the BIOS to route the video signal to the PCI and not the AGP and only then install the new card. And in the end it will behave worse than the previous AGP card you got because the PCI interface is way slower than the AGP.
Just buy a good AGP card, PCI cards are made for office pc's in which the onboard one is totally obsolete.

After installing x1300 pci card and disableing my motherboard graphics card I get only a black screen

so many possible reasons for this so ill have a stab have you connected the monitor cable to the new graphics card or have you left it connected to the internal graphics adapter or failing that you may not need to disable the internal graphics in bios just pick auto if available or select agp/pci-e if possible

When installing on vista it wont go past currently installing microsoft visual c++ redistrutibale.

this is mostly caused by scratches on the installation disk or that part of the package may be curropt, if you are using an origional windows then you can approach microsoft with this issue and they will replace your disk otherwise just get another copy from someone and try installing that. <also try if you can skip C++ installation, but i dont think that will work as its an important component and windows requires it>

Hi there. Try connecting it to a diffrent monitor to see if the same thing happens. If it does, open the case, take out the card, and then put it back in. Now turn it on and try again.

Let me know how it goes.

Problem installing ATI Radeon X1300 256mb in Dell Optiplex GX260

Hi edward,
I'm looking at the specs of your dell and of the video adapter.
It appears the Power Supply in your dell may to under powered for the video card.
According to dell's website the largest psu that ships with that unit is 250 watts while the radeon x1300 needs a minimum of 250 watts to run and assuming you have the 250 watt version you need to take into consideration that the psu is also powering your CPU, memory, fans, hard drive/s and other components on in your system so 250watts just isn't enough.
You may want to contact dell and see if there is a larger psu that you can purchase. I would recommend one at least in the 400 watt range.
I hope you get it straightened out I certainly know how frustrating it can be to not be able to use new hardware.
Let me know how it works out.

Need to connect 2 displays to Vision Tek RADEON X1300256 card

You probably should have gotten a card that had Dual DVI because it will be two separate outputs instead of one... I would take it back and get the correct Graphics Card.

Tried To Install New Card, monitor not responding.

Tech is suggesting that you pressed too hard while switching back & forth & may have hurt the motherboard by bending it. This a common problem. I can only suggest that remove your old card & clean the PCI slot with canned air. Carefully reseat the old card pressing evenly downwards till the card is seated. Use a flashlight & check where the card connects to the slot. It should be level across the PCI slot. Do this while the power cord is unpluged from the PC. Plug the power back in & start the PC.
Some video cards require extra power. Your newer card may need a four pin power connector to run. Please check the instructions that came with the RADEON X1300.

My screen is completely black but i can still see my mouse.

Try uninstalling your current drivers. Download and install new ones from the manufacture's site.
If problem persits, this means that the graphics card itself is fried/damaged.
