Hello: I recently bought MasterCook Version 11. I presently have version 6.2 on my computer. Can I just install my new version 11 without changing any recipes that I have already added to my present version?

If you load a new version of an existing program, it may depend on the new program whether it will overide and revise the existing program or whether it will load as a totally seperate program; thereby having both old and new programs available and most likely 2 different icons on your desktop screen (one for each version).
Some upgrade (Newer) versions will give you the option of choosing to keep the old and have the new one loaded without any interference to the existing version, or to have the new version "take-in" the information of the existing version and then eliminate the need for existing program . In either case, you will not hurt or lose info (that already exits) when loading the new program .

So often computer software's are improvised by the manufacturer into another version much innovative than the prior. Usually, software updates may least improve the feature functionality only as a compatible version to another computer. The versions listings on the software are identification number provided by the manufacturer to distinguish between several programs of similar or prior establishment. Computer devices require a compatibility inspection prior to acquisition to achieve integration into the existing system. Usually new programs require inspection for compatibility to an existing computer prior to acquisition. In which instance, a new computer sets the alternative arrangement of compatibilities. First, the new computer is least expected to be compatible only encountering outdated software programs as a likely observation. A new computer continues to function with prior software's because is compatible. Usually, new software's perform better with newer computer as compatibility matches or feature functionality requirement to attain user experience. Print shop should perform as before with windows 7 computers only with compartibity that is observable on capability to be downloaded on the computer. I have the cosmi 20,000 recipies perogram in my old computer and the hard drive went out. I got a new Acer with Windows 7 and cannot get the old disk to load. The former computer was running Windows XP...

i think u are probably out of luck. this software looks like it came from the late 90s and will work with anything up to xp, but vista & win7 are a whole different ballgame. best solution, buy an old laptop with win98 or 2000 or xp super cheap on ebay, or beg one from a friend, and use ur software on it there in the kitchen. that's what i do with my old laptop. works great if u have room in the kitchen lol

also transfer ur fave recipes from 20,000 recipes to a recipe organizer program like mastercook, it's much much better for searching plus u can enter 1000s of new recipes from anywhere. u can get older versions of mastercook for $5 on ebay. version 8 works just great for me with winxp. (WARNING if ur interested in mastercook on ur NEW computer, get version 11, the older ones DON'T work w/Vista or win7.)

I can't open mastercook version 3 on PC

Compatibility Wizard
1. Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the wizard, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.
To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the icon for the program, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.

I cannot open mastercook 5 without getting this error when trying to open. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

Unfortunately, Mastercook 5 is not compatible with Windows 7. There may be a work around but the only work around I found was for Mastercook 9.

From what I understand, it has been difficult for many to install Mastercook 5 & 6 on Windows Vista.

I did, however, included a link to MasterCooks blog in hopes that it can assist you with a work around.

Maybe the work around for MC9 in W7 will work for your version?

Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions.

Error when installing mastercook 6 on my vista laptop

hi there.
mastercook 6 runs on older windows versions
like win95, win98 and win Millenium Edition
only, newer are not supported.sorry

MasterCook deluxe 9.0 supports win2000, XP and VISTA, but this would mean spending another 19.99 on amazon.

you could try to install the 6.0 version on an older machine that still has win98 on it or think about setting up a multi-boot system (u need some computer expertise)so you can install multiple operation systems on your laptop, but this takes a lot of effort and all the drivers for your computer for win98, so spend of whatever you have more of, time or money...

good luck!

Wanting to upgrade old Mastercook program to meld to new computer

ValuSoft says that MasterCook 9.0 is only supported in Windows 98-XP. Specifically not Vista compatible. What's wrong with these people? I have Vista and didn't realize until tonight that some of MasterCook doesn't work right. So, buy XP.

Philips HDD6330/17 suddenly not recognized by Vista

Check which version of Windows Media Player you have loaded.
Open Windows Media Player. Click "Help" and "about". This should show which version you have.
Windows Automatic Updates may hve updated to version 11.

The Philips HDD6330 is only compatible with version 10 under Windows XP.

If you have version 11, then uninstall and it should roll back to version 10.
