Are there any codes that come up with the error such as, 8001710. If so its hardware stuff, if not just reset default settings. But make sure you back up all your memory except your update file.

Alright to back up your memory hook up your psp to your computer via usb and download all of your psp files. What I mean is, when open your psp folder all files that show such as GAME, MUSIC, PICTURE etc. an just copy and paste them into a new folder, name it PSP. The one folder that you don't want to copy is the UPDATE folder that may contain the corrupt update. Once you do this and your sure all your psp's content is safe in the new folder you created then just reset your default settings. This should reset your entire psp. Then update, if you still get the same error you might want to downgrade your psp. This can be found if you just google "downgrade psp". Hope this works bro.

The new download fore the x-box isn't downloading even though I tested the connection and it connected to x-box live

Here's how I fixed mine. When I got the message stating that the download was unsuccessful I went into settings, then network, and I tested my network connection. During a network test it automatically logs your profile out, but when the test came back good, before it logged my profile back in, it asked me to update again. I hit "a" to accept the update and it worked this time. I think the key is updating with the profile logged out, which under normal circumstances you can't do, only during a network test.

If that fix doesn't work you might try going into your network settings in the dashboard and lowering your firewall restrictions, then updating, then putting your firewall restrictions back to what they were.

How do you perform a network update on the system

Hi,

To configure a network access point, press Home then move to Network Update, then you get to the configuration screen that asks for the WLAN Settings (the default is to enter an SSID), choose "Scan" and let the PSP identify all the wireless networks it can see. Choose whichever one is your network.

Choose all the default configuration settings and you should promptly be asked to press the X button to save your new access profile. Do so, then select it again and, if your connection works you'll see "Checking Server...", then, if there's an update available, the PSP shows:
Network Update has found a later version.
To download, insert a Memory Stick with at least 14MB of free space and press the X button. Press the X button and you'll see "Downloading..." and a warning not to turn the unit off or remove the Memory Stick while downloading, then the download starts.

When the download succeeds, you'll now see:
Download completed.
The update is now available on your
Memory Stick.
To install now, press the x button.
To install later, go to [Game]..

Let me know if there is anything else.

Reagrds.

PSP update

This may lead to the same problem, but here goes.
Try an earlier version of firmware to update to first, like 3.80, 3.90, or 4.00. You can get those here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/36 Download the update file, apply it to your memory card, and try installing the older version.
If you get the same problem, try dumping all of the contents of your memory card to your computer, title it "PSP Memory Stick Backup" or something along those lines so you don't lose it. After you clear the memory card, reset your PSP to the original settings under System, System Settings, Restore Default Settings. Then format your memory stick with the PSP's format option. Try any of the updates and then put everything back on your memory card.
If none of that works, I guess it would be time to call Sony.
