Wii jagged edges on display

Hey, maybe I'm just a idiot (i hope im not) but I'm also worried that Im stuck having to bare with this horrible jagged display forever.
I have a 42' LG 1080p LCD.. and I'm running my Wii through it.. now when I play most games, i get a horrible picture, I tried on both settings, 480p and 480i and both look pretty horrible.. is it a problem with my TV or my Wii? I know this may not be a "problem" perse as in i may just have the display setup wrong... any help i would appreciate alot.. just bought Okami, and i can tell it' looks awesome, if only it wasnt so jagged :(
