My trackball moves left to right but not up and down. What is the problem?

When was the last time you cleaned it? Get some canned air and alcohol swab. Clean off laser, squirt air gently in crevices etc. Best to unplug mouse first.

How remove trackball for cleaning?

Most folks do not clean the trackball as most have wireless mouse that do not ever need trackball cleaned inside, but just need new battery replaced by pushing tab to open part where battery is.

Try Step A

Need the ability to "tab" from field to field on right of kybd

When you press ENTER to finish working in a cell, Microsoft Excel moves the cursor one cell down by default. However, you can select the direction in which you want the cursor to move.
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Edit tab, do one of the following:
    • To change the direction in which the cursor moves, select the Move selection after Enter check box, and then select a direction in the Direction box.
    • To keep the cursor in the current cell, clear the Move selection after Enter check box.
Note When a range or set of ranges is selected, pressing ENTER moves the cursor within the range or set or ranges only.

Model 64213

Peel up the lower corners of the serial number sticker on the bottom side of the trackball to expose the two Phillips screws that hold the assembly together. Remove those and take the top off. Lift out the circuit board and be careful not to lose the little idler roller that sits thereon. Unplug the cable and you can then access the rollers with ease. Clean them with alcohol and remove any fuzz or dirt with tweezers, and it all goes back together the way it disassembled and should work fine again. Takes less than ten minutes.
