WHAT TYPE OF FREON IS IN THIS UNIT AS THE MANUAL DOESN'T SAY

Hi, I would have to say you have R-22 in this system. 134-a is for autos and some refrigeration commercial units. R-410-a is for the new residential units. and is a very high pressure freon. So, yes yours is R-22.

Not cooling, what kind of freon

Either R-22 or R-134A. Look for a data plate. It will have the refrigerant in use and the factory charge of said refrigerant.

LOW PRESSURE PORT HAS A BLUE CAP ON IT.MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING REFRIGERANT R-134 BLUE CHARGE HOSE.R-12 CHARGING HOSE WILL NOT FIT R-134 SYSTEMS.SEE YOUR CAR HAS R-134 REFRIGERANT SYSTEM. THE EARLY 90S CARS HAVE R-12 REFRIGERANT SYSTEM.YOU NEED R-134 CHARGE HOSE SET.

Dometic Voluntarily Expands Refrigerator Recall

Dometic recently expanded its recall on a population of two-door refrigerators. The original recall included some two-door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003. The new recall focuses on models manufactured between June 2003 and September 2006.

To see if your unit is on the recall list & what to do, try the link below.
If your unit is on the list, DO NOT run your refrigerator on propane until the kit is installed

I put R-134 in my Coleman Roof top AC unit. I found out a month later i needed to use R-22. Will the R-134 damage the unit? the unit was empty when i filled it with r-134. any suggestions.

The oils used in the two different refrigerants are not compatible with each other. The will actually plug up some of the system tubing over time and will eat away at the compressor windings. The roof top unit should not have any rubber seals to worry about like a car.

The only thing you can do is remove the R-134A from the system, flush the system with liquid R-22, replace the compressor recharge it.

I know that is not what you want to hear but anything less than that will only be a short lived fix at best

I have a doutherm 3107541.009 on 2002 sandpiper. Unit works but not cool I think the gas is low. What type of freon does it take...R22, R34 or what?

you need to look at the manufacturers plate on the side of the compressor as to the type of freon needed. It will tell you type and amount (in ounces) that is needed. You can buy 134 over the counter at any auto parts house without a license however, you need a license for the purchase of r-22

Not cooling

Unplug it, and don't turn it on anymore. Doing so can damage the compressor, and I hope it is not damaged already. This will cause the compressor to overheat, and fail. You can buy line tap, and then buy one of those 134 adapter. Check to see if it has freon in there. Refrigarators today uses 134 and anyone can buy it. Locate the low side which is the larger tube coming out of the compressor. Screw in the tap, which should poke a hole on the line. Dont worry a tap do not leak, and I have used them many times.Once in place push the valve if there is any freon in there. if there is none then there is a leak somewhere. Find the leak and repair it first. You can buy a cheap propane torch for about 12-20 bucks, along with flux, and some solder. make sure you clean the copper to be repaired first with a wire brush. Once the leak is repaired, you are now ready to put the 134 refrigerant. An average refrigarator usually take a little more the half a can of 134. Putting too much will not make it cold enough. Well good luck hope this hepls.

should be a data plate located on the unit somewhere and tell you how much total charge is from empty and what kind to use.
Most likely it will be R-22 (green can)
