Question about Fujitsu LifeBook C2210 Notebook

1 Answer

How do I update the BIOS for my Fujitsu Lifebook C2210 notebook? I want to boot up from an external usb DVD drive, but my Lifebook doesn't show booting from USB as an option in the present BIOS. Hopefully, the update will enable me to boot from USB !

Thanks for your quick response. However, I've gone through the sites you've directed me to, and there is no sign of a BIOS update there, only drivers for the various devices in the Lifebook & guides for the BIOS. It's what drives me crazy. I can find guides for the BIOS, but not the actual BIOS file. :[

    Any other idea ?

If the BIOS does not list the USB devise in the Boot start up then You cannot boot up the laptop with an USB device.
It maybe possible with a BIOS upgrade, check the Fujitsu WEB site.

When you boot your computer, start up your BIOS, then under the boot menu, make sure USB is listed as the 1st option.

To log into your BIOS, press the "Boot Option" key. It might be F1, F2 or Delete

Can I install a new power jack in my Lifebook C2210? The power jack is not expensive.

It's pretty easy but if you don't get all the old solder off right away, you'll have to keep reheating it until it comes off so you can get the new one to fit properly....which can lead to the motherboard becoming de-laminated, which could render it completely useless

Did you try using the 'good old' assign command to link a driver letter to a USB stick? Can probably also be done in the Disk Manager. If that works, you can copy the files to a CD in case your laptop won't boot from the USB stick.

My Lifebook C2340 won't recognize it's own DVD-ROM. When I set the CD in the BIOS, it goes back to "None". It doesn't show up in My Computer. I've cleaned the contacts and tried another DVD. Still won't...

Does it show the device in the BIOS? If not then there could be a problem with the motherboard hardware. If it is not showing up in the BIOS then I would first verify that the power connector for the drive has voltage. Also verify that the slave/master jumpers are correct if the drive has any. You could also try downloading the BIOS update from Fujitsu and see if after updating the BIOS it brings the cd-rom drive detection back. If the BIOS is seeing the drive but Windows is not then the problem could be with the Windows drivers or installation. You could try going into the control panel for windows and use the "detect new hardware function" and see if Windows detects the drive.

Fujitsu Lifebook P1120 Won't Boot To CD\DVD

Fujitsu seems to have secretly added a Hardware black list for Booting USB DVD-rw.CD-rw drives.

I have a Stylistic ST5032D slate.

Your either going to have to buy fujitsu's over priced external drive or buy fujitsu's over priced dock.

Or What I do is Bought WinImage or any other software that allows writing a ISO image to USB flash drive, this should almost always work.

I had to install Windows 7 on my tablet this way.

Choose your poison.

Good Luck.
