Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just aquired an HP s3100n Pavilion computer that I am trying to refurbish but when it is all hooked up everything spins up and powers up but I get no VGA signal to my monitor. I believe the mobo is toast but everything looks good no bad caps or anything like that. What could be wrong other than the mobo being bad.

Hi. Please check and make sure that vga cables are intact from LCD going to the computer. Try to perfrom power drain on the computer. here's the procedure:

Unplugged the power cord from the wall socket
Press and hold the power button for 30 secs
Plugged in the power cord
Turn on the computer

If same issue will happen after this troubleshooting, you might need to call your computer manufacturer for you have a defective VGA card installed iny our computer.

All the best!

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion s3100n and at first it worked fine until according to Geek Squad at Best Buy said it was my motherboard, so HP replaced it and it worked great until now im haunted yet again...

If you don't see power indicator turned on or neither listen to CPU fans working, maybe the power supply is failing now, you could claim your warranty again if it's into the valid period, you could also check that all cables of your computer are securely connected.

Hp pavilion slimline s3100n doesn't display on the monitor. boots fine and fans spin and stuff, it just doesn't recognize its own VGA output. What do i do?

Hi
First, try hooking it up to an external monitor if you have access to one.Unfortunately,we need video to start checking for what may be wrong.
Try the monitor and post back to let me know what happens, and if it shows on the external display we can start looking at potential problems and fixes.

Verify your fans are for the CPU and case are moving. You can remove the Pc cover and turn on the Pc. Watch the cooling fan on top of your CPU heat sink, it should begin spinning when you turn on your PC. If it doesn't then with the PC unplugged, make sure the connector for the fan is seated properly. From behind the PC you should be able to feel the Power Supply cooling fan moving air. Either of these could cause your PC to over heat and shut down.
