Question about Alfred Karcher K2400HH 5 Hp 2.5 Gpm @ 2400 Psi Gas Pressure Washer

1 Answer

I have no high pressure or pulsating pressure through nozzles. If I remove the nozzle and pull the lance trigger I get good flow and sometimes if I quickley re-insert the nozzle it will work fine until you release the trigger.

The wand (lance) is bad. I went crazy with the same problem. Replaced the wand and now it works normal.

No water pressure when wand is squeezed

check the nozzle isnt blocked easiest way to do this is remove pipe from lance handle and see if it fires water at pressure when lance isnt attached if it does fire water at pressure then your spray nozzle is blocked or turned off at the nozzle the nozzle can sometimes spin to far round and close

I switch the pressure washer on motor starts pressure builds up motor stops. OK pull the trigger on the lance the moter starts sounds different water pressure low. Release trigger motor still runs.

It isnt very clear your explanation of the problem but what type washer do you have first? It sounds like you have a bad unloader or need a new variable nozzle tip. Can you explain in more clear detail. Thanks

check your lance nozzle is not blocked... Remove the lance from the trigger assy and see if you have water coming through then. If you do then the nozzle is blocked :@)

Karcher 2500ph pressure washer spill valve has been replaced pull wand trigger pressure good for 3 or 4 seconds drops off for a second or 2 goes back to good pressure for 3 or 4 seconds drops off again for...

If you have a Karcher then you should always post your machines barcode.

full article on nozzles :
http://repairshed.blogspot.com/2013/09/pressure-washer-lance-nozzles-what-you.html

The spill valve operates at approx 20% higher than specified pressure washer operating pressure. If you have any lance issues then the pressure could be running higher than specified (machine running at same pressure as spill valve operation pressure)

your machine produces a fixed flowrate of water (maybe 8 litres per minute) and your nozzle is a fixed size. the diameter of the nozzle determines the back pressure. A piece of debris could further close your nozzle orifice and increase the back pressure. Using a new lance that has the wrong nozzle fitted can also cause this issue.

The karcher barcode is on a silver sticker and is usually 15 digits long. Example 156987400000123 is actually model 1.569-874.0 and serial number 00123....

Karcher 2.56 keeps pulsing on and off whenever high pressure nozzle is attached. I have tried different nozzles and same thing is happening. when i press the lance without any attachment it works fine

If this PW has never worked properly -- it is possible that the seller sent the wrong pressure nozzles. All pressure washers have nozzles that are matched to the flow-rate and pressure of the machine. If they sent Nozzles that were really supposed to be for a machine of lower flow rate (smaller orifice nozzle) this would cause exactly the problem as you are describing it. This is because the electric motor does not have sufficient horse power to force the xxGPM out the smaller hole, so the motor surges and stalls, repeatedly.

Another possibility: Try a different electrical plug outlet. It is possible that the motor is not able to draw enough current from your plug. Sometimes older house plugs, because of the way they are installed, will not provide a good, solid 15 amp circuit like it should. As the motor comes under a load (i.e., when you install pressure nozzle) it draws more current to feed the work. So try a different plug and be sure it's on one of your circuits that is not loaded with other household items like the refrigerator, microwave oven, etc. The little washer all by itself will pull close to 15 amps, which is the max capacity of older home circuits.

Last, Look for the unloader valve. This is device that allows the water to go into a by-pass loop when the trigger is not pulled. It sounds like the unloader could be out of adjustment. Counter-clockwise will lighten the spring / Clockwise will tighten the spring. Toy with different adjustments -- ccw 1 complete revolution/test for improvement. Repeat. (it should have a plastic handle on top of it that can turn either direction. But look at it first, as there may be a "set" nut holding in one place.)

New rotary nozzle will not work. will spin and then stop and repeats.

By rotary nozzle do you mean the dirt blaster? or a different accessory? if it is the dirt blaster it could be that there is air in the system. take the dirt blaster lance off, then pull the trigger with high pressure untill you get a complete flow of water. then put the dirt blaster onit should work.

Another thing that could have happened is if you have bought the wrong dirt blaster for your machine as there are different types for different models.

Does not give a continous high pressure flow cuts in and out

that is sure signal of insufficient water supply!

try easy solution first:
make sure that your mains is fully open, that tap on whihc hose is hook up is fully open and hose is of "decent" diameter to allow sufficient flow.

if above solution do not work then you need to make another, more difficult arrangement:
prepare 20litres pressure tank with inlet connected to mains and outlet by short hose to power washer, fill it with water from mains, keep it under mains pressure and use karcher power washer normaly. this will solve water supply problem. twenty litres will last about 2min, because it is re-filled, under standard pressure therefore it will last about 3min...

third possibility is to stop washing...

if you find my advice helpfull, please do not hesitate to left the comment and vote for me, thanx!

I have a Kew Hobby 80. The output from the lance is not constant but pulsates.

Could be the input water pressure is not sufficient. There is a pressure valve inside the machine that will cut off the motor if input pressure is too low or non existent.

Try a different source for the water input.

When I release the trigger it "idles" fine, but when I re-engage

I have seen this problem alot and it can normally be rectified by clean out your unloader/bypass valve the orings on this valve get damaged as jerr said by leaving hoses and trigger pressurised, the easiest way to test if it is a faulty unloader valve is to do as you say it does and when it is on its weak stream turn your nozzle to detergent or low pressure mode then back to high pressure it should kick the pump back in...

If you do not have low pressure(chemical applicator) on your nozzle you may be able to remove the front half of your lance to achive the same result...

Kind Regards
Brad

Pressure pulsating when pulling trigger

you have a restriction in the nozzle end of the lance. clean with paper clip.
if not you have some dirt in the pump head valves which need cleaning
