That is usually an indication that the batteries have failed (inside). It is also helpful to turn off and then on the power to the furnace (to reset). ...most states require a switch on the furnace, or use the fuse.

If your thermostat uses batteries, they may have expired during the summer. If you install new batteries, the thermostat display should come on

mcdevito75 here Sounds like a faulty thermosat, un --plug a.c unit for a few mintes maybe it"ll recycle, plug back in wall and try again, if not see your local a/c repair shop.

Carrier a/c thermostat was working fine, then display went blank!

if it has no batt I would ck transformer for 24to26 volts no voltage replece transformer be sure trans has 115 volts to it trans should be in furnace section

My digital thermostat went blank i took it off the wall and swapped it with the down stairs thermostat and it works fine.

This means the furnace is sending power to the thermostat. This can b anything from no 120v to furnace, blown low voltage fuse on furnace circuit board, condensate pump too full, transformer bad etc.
