Bosch Dryer front loading: I just recently moved and had to change my 3 prong to 4 prong cord and hooked up to new location. Dryer will not turn on or light up. Checked breaker box 4 prong terminal and new cord...no problems. Got volt meter tested getting power to the back of the unit so I am out of ideas. There was a little metal trasfer strip that I was told to take out from the white wire to the ground screw on the dryer then just screw in the new 4 prong ground wire to the screw on the unti. Any ideas? I just think something got seperated inside the unit during the move. Thanks Joe

Sounds like you wired it wrong really. Do you have 120 volts from either outside wire to the center wire on the unit, and 220 to both outside wires if not its wired wrong

Dryer cord

Your four prong cord has 4 wires. Black,Red,Green and White.
Remove the 3 prong cord from the dryer.
The Black and Red wires go to the outside terminals on the dryer. The White wire goes top the center terminal. The Green wire goes outside the terminal cover to any nearby screw for grounding.

Need to change power cord on maytag dryer from 3 prong to 4

Always disconnect electricity before beginning this process.

All the 4 wire cords I have seen are color-coded. The white wire goes to the middle terminal, the green wire goes to any screw you can reach that goes into the metal case of the dyer. The red and black go to the outside terminals of the block and while it doesn't matter which color goes to which terminal I usually follow the color code of the interior dryer wiring that already exists. Good Luck.

I would check the thermal fuse. It is just inside the rear of the dryer and is usually attached to or is near the exhaust duct. It is about an inch long and can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a blown thermal fuse. Changing from 4 prong to 3 prong should have no effect if the wiring was hooked up properly. It is most likely just a blown fuse. Hope this helped and best wishes.

I was switching the electrical cord from a 3 prong to a 4 prong and grounded a hot wire. there was a big pop and now i cant get it to start. would i have blown it up?

WHy are you switching the cord from a 3 to a 4? If the dryer came with a 3 prong cord and its a 3 prong terminal block, then i dont think you can change it to a 4 becuase you will short circuit. DOes the terminal block where your cord was hooked up have 4 terminals. Each termial can only have one lead/wire to it. check your circiut breaker panel? Is the circiut breaker tripped?

Need to install a 4-wire/ prong dryer cord strain relief assbly

The green wire attaches to the dryer cabinet. There should be a green screw in the cabinet for attaching the wire. If not, you can always drill a hole for a ground screw.

The loose green wire you see is the reason the code was changed to a 4-wire cord.

Whirlpool Estate Dryer barely heating

Four wires on the new cord.
Red and Black go to outside screws on the terminal.
White goes to the middle terminal.
Green goes to the cabinet ground screw near the terminal plate cover.
