How to replace backlight on a ibm thinkpad t23

The backlight fault could be caused by a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp OR the CCFL lamp could be faulty.
The inverter is located at the bottom of the LCD screen between the laptop's hinges behind the plastic bezel surrounding the screen,
The CCFL lamp is located on the bottom edge of the LCD screen behind a reflector that runs along the bottom edge of the LCD screen. The reflector is taped to the bottom edge of the screen.
To get access to the inverter, remove the plastic bezel.
To get access to the CCFL lamp, remove the screws that secures the hinges to the base, disconnect the video cable and inverter power leads from the motherboard.
Remove the plastic bezel, it may have double sided tape securing it to the LCD screen, BE CAREFUL you do not damage the glass on the LCD screen.
Remove the screws that fix the LCD to the lid.
Now you can get access to the reflector and CCFL lamp. Carefuly remove the tape as you will need it to fix the reflector back onto the LCD.

  1. Unplug machine.
  2. Remove bottom front panel(remove 2-3 screws in the bottom) Pull bottom of panel out and down to remove.
  3. Towards the center bottom you will see the pump. On the front is a round thing that resembles a filter. This is the pump filter screen...
  4. Get a shallow pan to put under screen. Turn lid counter clockwise to remove(turn slowly and allow water to drain. As you may need to dump pan several times before all water is drained out. Removing outer screen to remove a few web visible on screen

I have already suggested in your other posting another way but here if you want to remove the screen is the method:

Remove the bottom grill ... (it should pull out and held in with pegs)

remove the front control panel (this is the keyboard)

Remove the screws at the bottom of the screen bezel. (At the very bottom beneath the screen will be up to 4 or 5 screws)

Lift screen up ... and it comes off.

If this is a 57 inch be careful as the screen is wide; two people doing this is better---if you twist the screen unit when you remove it you can damage it or cause the screens to pop out of the frame.

If this is the information you really wanted rate this solution as well as the other one I gave you as very helpful as I do this here for free.

How do you replace the projective cover on the screen

Remove the torx 20 screw around the screen. i suggest taping it on untill all screws are removed then remove the bottom speaker grill. again with torx screws on back then remove the center front piece with the buttons on it. you dont have to remove the wires just sit it down carefully. there is a plastic rivit on the bottom of screen in the center that needs to be pulled. the screen frame can be removed

Glare-can we remove plasting sheeting on screen?

yes, you need a philips screwdriver, pull the speaker grill off, remove the 4 or 5 screws along the bottom of the screen assembly, unlock the 2 electrical plugs and remove them from their ties, lift up on the screen assembly and remove it. turn it upside down and remove the 4 screws holding the bottom of the frame on, remove frame bottom, slide screen protector out, re-assemble, bingo, no glare.

How to disassemble an old Hitachi projection TV (model 53sbx59b)

To remove the protection screen and lens from my Hitachi model 53SDX89BA:
1) Remove the speaker cover from the bottom. It is attached by velcro.
2) Remove the 4 screws on 4 plastic tabs on the bottom of the screen frame.
3) Remove the 4 screws on the 4 metal tabs on the bottom beneath the screen frame.
4) Pry the bottom corners loose with a wide blade screw driver and work both sides of the screen frame away from the case from the bottom up. CAUTION: The top does not snap away as the sides do. When the sides are loose let the screen frame hang down vertical and lift the screen frame straight up.
5) The protection screen and the lens will come off together.

When reinstalling the screen frame perform the steps in reverse. Be careful when resnapping the frame back onto the case - there are two small wooden support blocks on the bottom. Don't try to force the frame back on until you are sure the bottom of the frame clears these block. You may find it easier just to remove them temporarily until the frame is reattached.

Compaq Presario 915US Backlight Out

First, are you sure it's the backlight and not the "inverter" or the motherboard not turning on the "brite" signal ?
Any way, to fix the backlight, you have to remove the screen from the laptop (in most cases) and then open the screens plastic case. Then, there should be a little circuit board at the bottom of the screen;that's the inverter.Disconnect both wires from it (there should be wires on each side of it).Now remove the screws holding the screen in the plastic case and lift out the screen. At the bottom edge of the screen, you'll find a piece of silver / metallic tape. remove this tape CAREFULLY . Also on the bottom edge there are tiny ( I MEAN TINY) screws at each end of the screen.Remove these carefully lift the metal cover along the bottom of the screen and the backlight is underneath this cover.
