Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

Desktop and Task bar disappearing

My Sony Vaio laptop, purchased in August 2006, has been acting strangely lately. Upon startup, it's very slow to open folders. I gave it a few days rest, but it still won't connect to internet or open any kinds of files. If I keep trying to open folders the entire desktop disappears as well as the task bar. Right now I can't even open up task manager. Is there any way to salvage the files I haven't yet backed up?

I believe you have a virus, not a disk problem. If you can boot your computer to safe mode and run your virus checker you may have the problem fixed. IF you need a free virus checker, one is available at www.ewido.com

Please let me know if this works for you.

You computer is infected by the spyware virus try to run in the safemode and download and install spyware doctor of pctools also the registry mechanic this two utilities is very helpful in term of spyware virus. But sometime if your computer infected by the UST.AVI virus you cannot install any program even the anti virus. The virus automatically close any program you install to prevent the anti virus to install in the system. If this happen the only way to salvage the files is reinstall the windows in the other directory then after you finished install windows. You can copy now the the files in the old directory copy of the windows your needed files. and delete the old windows directory permanently.

Sony vaio vgn cs 12gh b at start up there is a beep beep sound, pretty loud, and when the password box comes it's automatically filling wwwwwwwwww endlessly. when it's finally open there is this...

Clear the saved passwords
Sony VAIO Care, an application pre-installed on most Sony laptops, is designed to automatically check for computer updates and to assist you with troubleshooting and maintenance. The application is configured to start as soon as the computer powers on. Although Sony VAIO Care is helpful, it is not necessary for it to launch automatically, as having too many programs launch at startup can cause your computer to run slowly. You can disable VAIO Care so it does not run at startup.

Click on "Start," then click "All Programs." Click on the "Accessories" folder. Click on the "System Tools" folder and click "Task Scheduler." Type your Administrator password, if asked for one, and click "Continue." The Task Scheduler window appears. Click on "Task Scheduler Library" in the left pane. Click on "VAIO Care." Click "Disable" under the "Actions" heading on the right side of the window. Close the window. When you next start the computer, VAIO Care will not automatically run

Hope this helps.

My sony vaio Signature series VPCX135KX is too slow, i guess there's a virus that is not detectable by my antivirus

Go to www.download.com type malwarebytes anti-malware and install ccleaner, run cleaner first, and run a full scan with malwarebytes, and defrag your hard drive.

Download, free program, with update, for slow, sony vaio pcg-r505gl xp pro

Generally there are many reasons causing your Sony Vaio laptop or desktop PC running slow or freezing. For example, lack of free disk space, registry corruption or redundancy, overload startup programs, virus attack, fragmented hard drive etc. There are manual ways to get all those issues fixed but it costs time and energy, and most importantly it needs technical skills. So I'll recommend a quick yet easy fix solution, as you can see here: http://www.sonyvaioslow.com/

Upon startup, me comp tells me windows could not load due to a registry error. How can I wipe it and start all over again.

hello,

  1. turn off the system,
  2. remove the battery and insert it back,
  3. turn it on and insert a new windows CD (it automatically loads the disc, but if it does not, follow the processes below)
  4. upon turning it on,once it gets to the registry error part, press control (ctrl)+alt+delete 2 time
  5. it presents an option to you. select the start task manager,
  6. on the task manager blog, select new task,
  7. browse for the d: or d drive and start re running a new windows operating.
take care

Slow performance

System resources at 75% on idle only gives you 25% to work your notebook. Sony VAIO PCG-K25 Laptop 2.8 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM should be plenty to run most OS and programs. The OS, software and accessories attached to your laptop are utilizing 75% of your resources on startup. You may want to do some maintenance, check your processes on startup & carefully remove any not being used, check your networking usage, good antivirus & spyware cleaning, clean & defrag your hard drive, remove some of your files & programs, and upgrade your memory.

start your machine...when the sony screen disappears press F8 (to get safe mode options) one of these options is a vista startup repair....choose that one.....takes a couple of minutes to fix and boot into windows so be patient....the reason you have this problem is the user profile has become corrupt but windows vista corrects this with startup repair

No task bar or icons only desktop picture

start up in safe mode by pushing the f8 key on startup this will give you networking capabilities then follow these instructions

Hijackthis is a first line tool to examine certain areas of the computer. It does not show everything and lots of malware is hidden from it

To download Hijackthis

go to http://www.merijn.org/programs.php and download 'Hijack This!' self installer. Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
feel free to e-mail me

Fan Running, computer heating, task bar disappearing, everything is slow

It sounds like you've already started doing some things that can help you discover what is causing this problem, and that's good, but before I offer any more ideas, can you please tell me two things:

1. How much RAM (memory) does your computer have?

2. How much total hard disk space does your computer have, and of that, how much is available?
