Question about GE Profile WPRE6100G Top Load Washer

2 Answers

My washer will not spin - the basket will still move if I move it by hand, and it still goes through all the cycles, but when it gets to the spin cycle, it does not spin. The last time I used the machine a few days ago it worked fine. I was using the delicates setting, which is what I usually use, and had only a small amount of clothing in the basket. The load was not unbalanced. I also tried the regular/light setting, and the drain and spin setting. I have also unplugged the washer and waited for a minute and then plugged it back in and tried the drain and spin cycle again, all to no avail. I purchased this washer new approximately 4 1/2 yrs ago, and it has had very gentle treatment since I bought it (almost always use cold/cold delicate cycle, etc.).

One expert said that the solinoid (sp?) needs to be replaced. I read another question while I was waiting for my answer that was the same as mine, and the answer he received was that the timing mechanism needed to be replaced. Which is it, or is it something else? And is this expensive to fix (please tell me it isn't!)? Thanks!

From time to time the inverter needs to be reset because of a brief power glitch. Push the timer knob in or have the washer in the Off mode so the washer is idle. Unplug the machine for one minute. Plug back in and raise and lower the lid six times within 12 seconds. You might have to repeat this procedure several times. If the washer still won't spin take the front panel off and count the blinks on the motor. My washer will not spin - ce9bc3e.jpg2c9343d.jpg

The motor blinks on and off all the time It blinks faster when running. That is normalment mon ami.
If it ain't acting right it will display flashes:

1 flash bad motor
2 flashes slipping belt
3 flashes corrupted software bad motor
4 flashes failed mode shift circuit
5 flashes little green men bad motor
6 flashes locked motor check for objects between tub
7 flashes bad lid switch.
8 flashes motor overheated too much soap
9 flashes brake resister is toast bad motor.

IF you see no light at all then the line fuse is blowna47f3dc.png
The red/white wire has a black shrink tape portion. Look for a telltale bubble in the shrink wrap. That is where the failure is gonna be. The part you need is wh49X10041

What does an rL error mean?

The rl code is displayed when the control detects a load of clothes in the washer during the clean washer cycle.

This code should only come up when you're trying to run a clean cycle.

There can be two causes for this message if there are no clothes in the washer while you're running the clean washer cycle.

The most serious cause of the problem would be the spin bearing. Try and turn the basket by hand and see if you fill any restrictions. The basket can drab because of the bearing or because there are clothes between the spin basket and outer tub. Turn the basket by hand and see if you notice anything.

You can also try to remove the belt and run the clean cycle and see if the problem repeats. If the code doesn't repeat with the belt off and there is nothing between the tub and spin basket most likely the spin bearing will have to be replaced. The bearing is part of the rear half of the tub and will require a complete tear down to change.

If the message rl repeats with the belt off then the most likely cause of this problem is the machine control board.

My washing no start and display view f34 Thanks

The F34 code normally only occurs when you are trying to run the CLEAN WASHER cycle. The washer should be completely empty of laundry when you are attempting to start this cycle. If the washer is empty and you are trying to run this clean washer cycle then you could have a friction problem with the spin basket that is causing the F34 code. Try turning the spin basket by hand with the washer empty and dry. The basket should turn relatively easily. If the basket will not spin easily you could have a problem with the bearing in the back of the outer tub or you could have an item stuck between the spin basket and the tub inside the washer.

My Kenmore HE2 plus frontloading washer is flashing a ''rL'' code when I try to run the cleaning cycle. Nothing is in the washer, and I've tried several times. How do I clear it?

The rL error code during the clean cycle is likely caused by friction on the spin basket shaft since you indicate that you hear squeaking when the washer is spinning.

The squeaking is normally caused by a bad bearing in the rear tub shell.

I recommend that you have the washer diagnosed and repaired by a Sears service technician.

This type of problem will normally require an extensive tear down of the washer to repair.

It is not a problem that you can normally repair yourself.

Open the door & slowly rotate the spin basket to see if you can feel any kind of drag on the bearings.

If the bearings check good, the control board is sensing a load & will need to be replaced.

If the message rl repeats with the belt off then the most likely cause of this problem is the machine control board.

My whirlpool does not work in the spin cycle

Check the spin cycle activation switch located on the lip of the machines casing where the lid comes down to close.

Often the switch that activates the cycle either goes out and simply needs replaced. Or has worked loose from it's bracing and when the lip comes down to make contact { push it in } the switch body shifts and doesn't receive enough pressure to activate the cycle.

Replacing the switch is both easy and inexpensive if you replace it yourself and avoid a tech service call that would generally cost more than the part itself.

Will not spin, therefore will not drain

Hey Joe,
Let’s check to see if the wash basket will rotate CCW in Spin Only Cycle with no clothes in the wash basket
1. Open the lid and rotate the wash basket by hand Counter Clockwise, CCW. The wash basket should rotate freely with no restriction. The wash basket will not rotate Clockwise, CW by hand.

2. Raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. Raise the top of the machine to observe the wash basket and tumbler action described in step 3. (See page 33 of the Service Manual for putty knife insertion point).

3. With the top raised start a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket, observe the wash basket it should begin to rotate CCW does it?. Watch the tumblers, they should not rotate in spin cycle (maybe ½ turn at the start of spin cycle and that’s all). If the tumblers rotate while the wash basket is rotating you have a clutch malfunction. If the basket does spin CCW and the tumblers are rotating then you have a broken clutch spring. Let do those checks and observations and see what the next troubleshooting steps will be. Rich

Washer won't spin

You won't be able to spin this by hand because you have a brake system above the transmission. When not in the spin cycle this brake stays engaged When it goes to the spin cycle it disengages so that the drum can spin at the end of the spin cycle if you have ever watched it the tub stops almost on a dime. Sounds like your brake is not releasing when washer goes to spin cycle. Try this site for what parts look like www.repairclinic.com The 2 of you sound as if you know what you are doing Good Luck.
