Double image on screen

The sound and color is just fine, however, there is a double image that is seen on all channels, dvd's etc. We had this exact problem approx 4yrs. ago. They replaced it then and we've had no problems until now. We had a repairman come out to say they could fix it then and there for a crisp $370.00 We've decided to try to replace the broken piece ourselves. I thought he said it was an AC or IC condensing unit, but no luck finding this piece online so I'm sure I didn't hear him correctly. Anyone know the part we need to replace? It appeared they were pointing to a piece that is located right inside the back panel approx 2in wide by 5in long. Any ideas or suggestions of what needs to be replaced, I would appreciate the input.

Sounds like the convergence went out and what he may have been pointing to are the convergence output i.c.'s..  if so, you may want to have a tech do this one...

Configuration Problems

Improperly configuring TV setting can cause problems. Verify the TV settings are set correctly. First, brightness and contrast should not be set to high or to low because this can cause poor picture images. Second, adjust the color on the TV when the picture displays colors poorly. Third, if you are having sound issues then check to make sure the volume is not muted or turn down all the way.

The picture color is very red. Sound fine.

I have a solution for this depending on what you tell me:

Go to a channel with the program in BLACK AND WHITE, TURN THE COLOR ON THE SET TO ZERO.

What color is the screen? If it is red or somewhat red (not black and white) I CAN TELL YOU HOW TO CORRECT THIS--I HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE AND IT IS A TEN MINUTE FIX--NO PARTS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Confirm not black and white picture---respond with a comment here and I will tell you exactly what to do and how---- I have seen this problem before.

If this helps you, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Blue screen help!

The TV is fine. You need to fined the original remote. Be sure you have a cable connection on the anttenna A RF connector. Push menu and find the input. Or maybe input menu...experiment and you will find and correct this. Seen this problem years ago, can't remember exactly what the remote reads. But it should not be serious.

Samsung HCN4727W Rear Projection TV, green screen, audio works

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.

Grey Screen

Try the reset on the remote. Press this key twice to restore factory settings. The TV will automatically start Channel Search and clear all customized settings. These features will automatically reset: ? Picture/Sound Adjustments: Color, Tint, Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Color Enhancer, Tone, and Surround Sound ? Channel Memory ? Audio to Stereo ? Caption to OFF ? V-Guide to OFF ? Aspect Ratio to 4:3 (normal) ? Menu Language to English ? Sleep Timer (if previously set) ? Video to TV (if previously set) If desired, personal settings can be made again using the menu options

Channel jumping

Sounds like the PIP feature is causing the problem with the TV if you are connected directly to cable TV without a box inline and getting these issues.
