Hi, I have an amana ap125hd portable air conditioner and for some reason is doesn't produce cold air anymore. Then fan blows and the compressor kicks in, but to no avail, no cold air. I took the unit...

replace it,most likely the freon leaked out,if the compressor is running and the fan is blowing but not getting cold most likely you have a leak in the sealed system.

Possible unit is low on freon, also inside coil should be cleaned, change filter.

Usually ice on coils is low freon. Will need a service person to find leak and recharge.

Ac blowing hot air

Sounds like you have a good sized leak in the system. The service man should be able to locate a leak that big. You might be able to locate it yourself. It's more than likely in the outside unit or indoor coil not in the lines that run between them. Look in the outdoor unit and look for any oily spots. The compressor has oil in it and it will show up where there is a leak. Look for any pipes that may be rubbing together as this will rub a hole in a line. Look at the indoor coil looking for the same indications. Hope this helps.

Gas smell when operating, possible condensor leaking . Is this sealed unit service-able or do i have to buy a entire unit?

Gas smell??? Freon doesn't smell like most common gasses like natural gas or propane. I believe the unit is servicable but i'm not sure you could get an A/C company out to repair an A/C of its size. If it still blows cold air I would say the problem isn't coming from your A/C unit, if there is a noticeable leak (you can smell it) in the condensor it would dump most of the freon fairly quickly. If it's not blowing cold air I would suggest replacing it, not sure if finding the leak, and getting out your oxy/acetaline torches would be worth the trouble.

Hi have central air . Unit working ok but noticed not blowing cold air . The fan outside is working , Unit comes on . Could it be feron . unit it about 7 years old . Purchase house about 4 years ago

You need to have a pressure gauge the reads for R-22. (Freon) It sounds like the system might have a leak. Look for a wet place any place on the units pipe system. It has a little oil in with the freon that is forced out of any leak. If you see a wet place this is oil. It is also the location of your leak.

A/c not blowing out cold air

1. if your system is leaking, it would be better for you to take it to a mechanic.
2. self servicing of the a/c system can be dangerous especially when servicing the wrong (high pressure) port, the can can explode causing injury and further damage.
3. if the cause is due to another defective unit, you would be wasting money on the freon and in the long run.

Carrier air-v AC is not blowing cold air

There could be a freon leak, or just low freon levels. If this is the case, you have to call a certified a/c technician to recharge your system.

Only cold air on passenger side

I would assume with multiple people having the same problems, there should be a service bulletin on this issue. may want to call dealer with vin # to verify. sounds like a heater control issue under the dash. something i would leave to the experts for repair
