Question about Washing Machines

Whirlpool duet wfw9600ta01 with the common "suds/F35" error code. Yes......we've been using the right soap. suds starts one minute into cycle followed by the F35 code immediately after the suds cycle sometimes goes right to F35 at the one minute mark. trap has been cleaned of multiple pens/barrels rocks and assorted change. do I have to look at the analog pressure sensor too or on this model is the code for something else?

WARNING: THIS WRITE-UP IS COMPLETELY MY OPINION BASED ON MY EXPERIMENTATION WITH THE EQUIPMENT. TRY ANY OF IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE CONSEQUENCES (GOOD OR BAD EITHER WAY) THAT YOU MAY REAP FROM THE MACHINE YOU WORK ON.

I made the biggest mistake of taking the whirpool WFW9600TA01 from US to India - I had been totally frustrated with the SUDS/F35 issue, absolutely as explained in the question above.

I started as a novice but feel very confident to write this solution now. There are several areas that could cause this problem. Fundamentally, as the water fills the tub, the pressure form the pressure switch is sensed. If the value is not in line with what is programmed, you get this error. This deviation in pressure value can be caused by any of the below reasons.

First and foremost thing I would do is remove (disassemble - note very carefully the assembly and the position before disassembling. You will need to reassemble in the exact same way in the exact same position) and clean all the pipes, hoses and connectors

Details:

The problem could occur because of:

1. True suds formation due to wrong soap usage (pretty often the problem) - Solution for this? - use a lot of vinegar and a few "risnse and spin" cycles with out any clothes in the washer

2. The pressure switch could have gone bad. Solution - replace the pressure switch (I would do this the last though)

3. There could be dirt collected at the water inlet. Solution remove the water inlet and clean the cup shaped strainer

4. Your outlet/drain pump (the one that pumps the water out of the washer into the drain) may have worn out, there by not draining out all the water. This will leave residual water impacting the next run. Solution replace the pump assembly

5. There may be particle collection such as coins pens, small pins etc in the darn pump inlet strainer causing the drain pump to not work properly and in turn causing SUDS/F35. Solution - remove the front of the drain pump inlet and remove the particles and restart.

6. There is a conical shaped connector connecting the outlet of the tub to the inlet of the drain pump. At one side of this connector (the broader side connecting to the tub) there is a plastic ball in it. If the ball is punctured, water may have collected in it causing it to weigh more than what it is supposed to. When the drain pump runs, the weight of this ball may counter act to not allow proper draining of the water. This residual accumulation of the water will cause SUDS/F35 in the next cycle. Solution - replace that flexible connector. Atleast drain the water from the front at the drain pump inlet, if you want the washer to work for that cycle.

7. There is a small white plastic tube at the back which runs a black tube to the pressure swtich. The assembly is pretty interesting. It is a simple insertion with the air tightness being achieved by a simple rubber gasket covering the insertable part (do not know why the design is such). After a few washes due to the vibration generated by the tub during wash, this gasket can move causing air leaks. Such air leaks do not cause any issue to the current run, but will result in a SUDS/F35 in the next run. It will remain so for al the next runs unless it is re-inserted properly. Solution for this? every time open the rear and make sure the plastic white part is pushed in well.

8. There are other reasons like the main control circulatory / mother board could have gone bad etc. You can figure if this is the problem by running the diagnostic tests for the most part - there is a good chance that only a certified technician can tell you. Solution - replace the mother board (quite stupid huh!!)

9. Finally, the steamer assembly could have gone bad - Although the manual says this, I cannot quite figure out how this would affect the pressure buildup in the tub - I do not know what to do. More than likely if you invite a technician, the person might ask you to replace this assembly.

Try everything - the net effect should be that you have plugged all air leaks. I know some expect to see water leaks at place where air leak exists. That may not be true at all. Good luck with everything.

This response was VERY helpful. I'd all but resigned myself to having to buy a new switch (found one for under $60 online athttp://www.appliancezone.com/Contact.asp... ) Since it is the day before a holiday weekend, this response kept me trying cause I wouldn't have the part until Mon.

Couple extra tricks I tried that saved me hough. I had installed "floodsaver" braided metal hoses that I concluded through experimentation were providing too much back-pressure on the line, and messing up the ratio. and, on a whim, I disconnected the pressure switch from its little circuit board inside, and then plugged it back in. I think this re-set the board, 'cause I was able to clear the error, and be back in business.

Oh, found a parts manual with good exploded views online too. (W10188974)

I have tried just about all of this...except replacing ccu or steam pump.. But am curious about the. Air pocket comment.. Ihow would you clear it of an air bubble.? The dang thing tries to start and then. Throws the message .. If I hit. Cancel it takes forever to drain and then turns off...

I had the same problem. The sensor is bad and must be replaced. Although we are using He detergent, suds still tend to back up in the line and once the sensor gets wet the suds/F35 codes appear and the machine will not work. Repair person advised me to use a small amt. of detergent,do not use above line 1. Since the machine uses very little water I found that the clothes is clean. You can also use clear non sudsing ammonia and get the same results. Also, the washer cleaners and bleach can produce a small amt of sudsing....clean the washer with white vinegar.

Whirlpool Duet Mod# WFW9600TA01 Frontload Washer with error code : Suds flashing followed by F35 during initial start-up selector on normal. Once in a while it will go through a normal wash cycle without diagnostic error code SUD followed by F35 and a normal wash is complete.

Following a new load the same diagnostic code flashing SUD followed by F35 has been detected.

we've been using the right soap.

suds starts one minute into cycle followed by the F35 code immediately after the suds cycle sometimes goes right to F35 at the one minute mark.

trap has been cleaned of multiple pens/barrels rocks and assorted change.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SOLUTION?

F35 If this failure is displayed, there is any malfunction of the steamer component detected by the Steamer Electronic Board.
Possible Causes/Procedure
  1. Check if pressure hose is fixed correctly.
  2. Check if the airtrap is not blocked.
  3. Check if the hose is not blocked.

Suds then f35 Whirlpool Duet 4.0 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Steam Washer - White

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.

If you remove the top panel, three screws in the back, you will have access to the pressure switch.

With the tub empty, remove the vinyl hose from the switch and blow backwards through the hose to clear any restrictions.

If the fault codes return after doing this, you will likely need to replace the pressure switch.

Also - please be sure to use He soap.

Whirlpool Duet -Sud displays and washer stops

I;ve had the same problem (SUD on first fill) and found this most helpful for my WFW9600TW01 Duet washer

http://www.tellingmachine.com/post/Fixing-Sud-and-F35-errors-on-my-Whirlpool-WFW9600TW01-Washer.aspx

I duplicated his actions and it cleared up my SUD/F35 error. I think running the diagnostic test multiple times flushes the sensors/sensing lines to eliminate the problem.

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL DUET STEAM MODEL WFW 9600 TAOO. NO WASH CYCLES WILL START. I GET A FLASHING 'SUD' AND THEN CODE F 35. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS? WHAT PART NUMBER DO I NEED? WHERE CAN I FIND IT?...

SUD, usually caused by using the wrong type of soap. Your soap should have the letters "HE" on front of box/bottle. SUD can also be a bad drain pump, question is, does it still have water showing in tub?

F35, is a pressure sensor # W10156252, good luck finding it, as Whirlpool has problem keeping these things in stock. They list price at $112.82. Only takes about 20 minutes to change. Research sears.com, select PARTS Direct, enter model number, click on cabinet parts, find analog pressuer switch, see if they have in stock. Or, research the net for someone that does.

Take top of washer lid off, pressure switch is located on top right rear side wall of machine.

Good luck.

Whirlpool front loader

I've had this same problem and had a service man come in. The reason for the colde is an over-gunked up machine due to the directions for amount of soap to use on he bottles being incorrect.

Run the washer empty several timres with just vinegar in place of the soap and then repeat with bleach. I've been told this will take care of the problem, but it may take many cycles before the codes will stop appearing.

Also, from then on, only use 3 tablespoons, yes 3 tablespoons or 1 ounce of detergent per wash. The 1/4 cup that most he detergent bottles tell us to use is way too much.
