Unless plug is bad u will need to check the motor or heater one of them is pulling high amps heating up plug--oil motor may help--but will need to check the amperage on the motor and or if heater is cause if no amp probe --when system is cooled plug in and turn down heat setting let motor for a while if plug heats up or motor goes off on over heat know problem is with motor or plug-if no change now add heater if plug gets hot and turns off when heater is applied know heater is problem

My hot tub works for about 20 mins and clicks the GFI off. Then I reset the GFI and the spa comes on for about 7 mns and trips the GFI again. Is this my heater doing this?

Easy way to test for the heater issue is to disconnect the heater from the board. Disconnect both leads from board and let the spa call for heat. There is also a chance the GFI breaker is bad however most times the heater fails and the breaker is doing its job.

Colman Spa trips GFI what is most common problem? GFI test good. Pump disconnected still trips, is heater most likely? Can you replace only heater? thanks

this should be simple ...
1.shut off the power
2.disconnect wires to heating element
3. turn power back on and see if it works if so replace heating element 45-95 dollars

if it still trips unplug all the cables from the pumps blower ozonators and see if it runs now,,,, if so plug each cable back (one at a time) until it trips again.if it trips that the problem pump etc.

99 percent of the the time its not the gfi its a device that is wet or shorted out ..Try everything else before replacing the gfi

Breaker on the end of spa plug-in trips overnight. I can unplug it and plug back in, tub runs to it's 100 degree default settings. Will stay on and maintain all day, but overnight I will find the tub off...

I have had a few troublesome units over the year that did as you describe due to 'dew' overnight collecting around the tub and the increased moiture sent the motor of the circ pump "over the edge" iinto a grounded state. A leaking pump seal was adding to the problem. Once the seal leak along with the dew got high enough the GFI would sense the grounded condition and trip. Fixing the pump seal and drying/cleaning the motor fixed the problem every time. If you find any other leak sources around the pump you will need to fix them as well.

I have a bull frog spa with two flo-master pumps, specifically Emerson extreme- e model number r23mwdma-175. Spa is noisy and had made a burning smell. Is this a motor, impelled, or other problem? My...

Common sources for a burning smell in order of most likely, depending on how your spa was equipped, in my opinion would be:

Blower motor - Worn out brushes on a DC motor arc heavily and will give off an odor.
Heater - Elements build up scale over time with less than ideal water chemistry and will give off an odor when heating.
Pump - As a pump nears total failure it can overheat enough to begin to burn the winding insulation and tie down cords causing a burning smell.
Control box/electronics - least likely but a failing relay or GFI recepticle can also burn and eventually fail.

When i plug my pool cover pump in the the gfi outlet trips

The pump motor is likely grounded causing the GFI to trip. Once the seal inside a submersible pump fails, water enters the unit and the motor will fail. The low cost of those pumps makes them not worth fixing and you will most likely need to replace it.

GFI 'shorted'

load neutral connects to the neutral binding screw on the GFI, do NOT connect the load neutral to the neutral bar.
