Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Compressor will start but shuts off after a minute or so. If I warm thermistor, compressor will start again and run until I quit warming thermistor. I replaced the thermostat and thermistor but problem remains. The compressor will not stay running more than a minute or two in an 80 degree room even with thermostat set at 65 degrees.

I am assuming this is a range/refrigerator combination.
If the room is cooler does the compressor run ?
Is the condenser clean ?
There seems to be a problem with the motherboard.

My first post got "lost" somehow in the website. Upon retyping I left out that the problem was for a Panasonic Air Conditioner ... model # CW1406BU. The unit behaves as though the requested temperature setting is 30 degrees off... if I set the temperature to 65, I have to warm the termistor to 95 degrees before cooling will start. As I mentioned both the original/old thermostat and a brand new one behave the same. If I could find a schematic, I might be able to diagnose the problem ... but no luck.

Freezer not cooling

The clicking you are hearing is probably the compressor trying to run but shuts down after the minute. If your refrigerator has a fan cooling the compressor make sure if is running and the coils are not blocked with lint. A warm compressor is a good sign a hot one is not. The compressor start device or relay could be causing the problem.

9yr old model Maytag window a/c - just blows cold for 30 seconds - then blows warm. Was perfect until this happened. Is it worth fixing? What would be the usual fix for this?

The compressor is shutting off on overload after running for a few seconds. The overload cools down and starts the compressor running again until the overload heats up and shuts the unit off again.

ZFSB26DRESS water runs warm and freezer not staying cold.

It sounds like the condenser coils , the coils by the compressor , need cleaned badly . This (and the compressor cooling fan) , can cause the compressor to cut off on overload (due to the heat) , thereby not circulation refrigerant thru out the freezer coils .
The water line goes from inside the freezer door ( cold ) , under the refrig ( warm ) , then to the inside refrig water reservoir ( cold ) . After that , you should get cold water , until the reservoir is drained of cold water .

PROBLEM WITH MY AIR CONDITIONER

Is the outside unit running? if so can you feel warmer than outside air blowing from outside fan? If not your system may have a leak and pressures low. You can also check the piping to and from the unit larger one should be cold small one should be warm

Refridgerator freezer not geting cold

Your compressor has shorted out. The compressor shouldnt be scorching hot just warm. And that humming you are hearing is the compressor trying to start but it is shorted. There is nothing you can do except for replace the compressor.(or the refrigerator)

Compressor on Haier hmse03waww mini-frige shuts off after 10-20 minutes and is hot to the touch.

If the temperature in the refrigerator is correct then this is proper function for the compressor. It should run until the desired temperature is reached then shut off. The compressor also gets really warm. If the compressor is shutting off prior to the correct temperarure being reached then you may have a compressor problem. If the compressor is bad and our of warranty, it is time for a new refrigerator. If it is still under a warranty, call for factory service. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Freezer frosts over and blocks the flow of air throughout the refrigerator and causes it to warm up inside.

If this condition just started happening, and you haven't changed the setting or overstuffed the fridge, it may be your defrost timer. With the compressor running, turn the screw on your timer until you hear a click and the compressor shuts off. The compressor should come back on in 20-30 minutes. If this doesn't restore the normal operation, or if it fails to defrost again, you'll need to replace the timer. This only works for mechanical timers and not solid state timers.

I have a Frigidaire sidexside, purchased in May 2005. The compressor does not come on, and will produce a 'buzzing' sound for approximately 17 seconds. Then the 'buzzing' sound will cease and all is quite....

sorry to tell you that your compressor is bad, what you are hearing is the compressor trying to start, but unable due to shorted windings. not a cheap fix. sorry.
