Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Canon PIXMA IP2200 printer. Prints OK when first turned on but on a long print job I get error lights and code 6000. Is there some sort of reservoir for excess ink that is full? Service guys are telling me to buy a new printer. I know they're cheap but it seems wasteful to throw out an otherwise perfectly good printer if it can be fixed reasonably.

Error 5100

Try to update your software here:

http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010231.asp

This is usually a carriage error, meaning something is or was jamming the cartridge carriage at some point. Check for stuck paper anywhere, then try reset the printer to see if the error clears.
You can try to reset it to factory mode by following the steps below:

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Press and hold the ON button while pressing the Stop button. (DO NOT release both buttons).
3. When the Power LED lights in green, while holding the ON button, release the Stop button. (DO NOT release the ON button.)
4. While holding the ON button, press the Stop button 2 times, and then release both the ON and Stop buttons.
5. The printes turns into a kind of factory mode...(wait for about 10 seconds, until it says "Idle")
6. Press the ">" (next to the "OK" button) once."Shipping Mode 3"
7. Press the "OK" button.
8. Press "OK" again for "Without cleaning"
9. A test page will print.

If that doesn't work contact Canon or your local service depot. Good luck.

I have just printed train ticket reservations from the internet and all that prints is code for the websit page

If the printer is writing the web address the problem maybe is from the webpage. Try to select the text you want to be printed then from the File menu -> Print, choose Selection from the options available in the Print Range and then click OK.

Ink well transformer full

Issue: Alarm / Power light flashes orange 8 times consecutively (Waste Ink Nearly Full Error)
Solution: Press the <RESUME/CANCEL> button to clear the error (1700)
Waste ink absorber error 1700
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that this absorber is nearly full.

Press the <RESUME/CANCEL> button on the printer to clear the error, so you can continue the print job. The printer will need to be serviced as soon as possible.
