Question about Epson STYLUS CX3900 All-In-One InkJet Printer
It sounds like the print head black portion might be gummed up. Pop out the print head, and clean it using the alcohol solution. You may also want to force some of the alcohol solution through the nozzles. After, submerse it in warm water for five minutes, blot it dry and use some q-tips to dry around the nozzles. Let it sit for ten minutes or so to be sure it is dry, and then pop it back in the printer with some new ink cartridges. You may need to run through a cleaning and deep cleaning after this process too.
