Use the scart cable to connect first, then in setup change settings to hdmi output. Scart and hdmi will not work simultaneously, you wil notice the screen turn green and distorted at scart channel on tv. If the channels are not broadcasted in HD, then using the scart connection may be wiser.

Magnavox MDR537H/F7 no power

Some surge protectors cut off all power, when they reach the surge protection limit in joules. Power strips have reset buttons to restore power. Try plugging it directly into the electrical wall socket. If it works, then purchase a new surge protector. The DVD recorder may have a internal fuse that has burned open.

Looking for a shop to repair my TOSHIBA DVD recorder

You can most likely remove the HDD and hook up to a PC with a USB - HDD dongle. This will/should allow access to the data on the HDD, this could then be copied off to the PC's HDD, and then converted or played, to do this you will have to get and install the correct CODEC, used to do this.

LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder

I have an LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder, which was suffering from the problem that it could not play any bought DVD movies, which were previously working fine in that same player. It would however play svcd and DVD+R/-R movie discs.

The solution was to replace the laser tray. I found a new LG DVD BD lens LPC-815 laser tray here: http://www.laser-xh.com/en/?act=showproduct&proid=1147
I bought two for $5.50 each. Shipping was $32 (DHL), all together $45.10 (PayPal fees included). Delivery was fast and accurate within 3 working days (China - Sweden).

Targa drh 5400x will not burn dvd i have burnt 19 on it however when i place blank dvd in machine it says to change it very annoying contacted targa technical support they advised me to deleat hard drive...

Well i solved the problem by replacing the onboard dvd drive (regular IDE connection) with my PC's DVD drive (asus, can't remember the model).
Worked like a charm, burns every single dvd i put in it, DL included remote control works flawlessly, perfect.
To make it permanent i cut a hole in the lid to pass the ide/power cable through and used velcro tape to hold the drive in place, it's odd looking but works perfectly.

My problem was solved.

After my previous post on Dec. 12, 2008, I called Targa UK who asked me to send the device to them. Within 3 weeks after I sent it, it came back fixed (it is still within the 36 month warranty).
