Question about Jenn-Air JGD8130 Gas Cooktop

1 Answer

Burners/Heat All burners have nice blue flame and flame will go up and down when adjusted. But it isnt that hot. For example when you heat a pan on high and add any food the recovery time is very excessive. Boiling water takes forever. And once it boils add some pasta and its cooking time will more than double normal. Whats UP??

Make sure you have the correct orifices, make sure you have good gas pressure and make sure pressure regulator is ok.
also if the unit has been in service for a while check the orifice for build up a wire or needle will work to knock out any build up

Remove the front panel to find where the gas injectors enter the burner tubes you will see they are cut away and have a screw holding an outer ring which is adjustable, open them up more to get more air in .

You don't have the right Gas to Air ratio..... Not enough air to the burners or you are running to low of gas pressure for propane... Propane takes a smaller orfice or operate than Natural Gas.....
You should have 10" of WC for Propane operation..
You will need a manometer to check it.
The flame should be a blue color with no yellow in it. There should be air shutters right at the orfice to each burners. You will have to play with the adjustment to get the best blue flame with no yellow in the flame.... Hope this helps.....

Hi - I have a 4 burner GE gas cooktop. The clicking sound comes from all the burners but 2 of them are difficult to light. If I hold my hand over the top ... they will light! Is there an adjustment that...

Usually this happens if something has been spilled or a pan overflowed and is partially clogging some of the burner holes. Make sure the burner holes are clear and try poking them with a sewing needle to make sure. I am assuming the flames are a nice blue color and not a lazy yellow or yellow-tipped. If there is some orange, that is usually an indication you are burning off some food and will need to be cleaned. If that doesn't appear to be the issue, then let us know and we'll dig deeper. Soot deposits from my brand new downdraft jenn-air gas cooktop

Is this on LP or Natural gas? If LP was it converted to LP? In any event,The air shutter must be adjusted on the gas burner tube. You need more air. The valve orifice may also need adjusting.

Creda 4 burner, converted to LP

Your flame is perfect if it's just the very tip that is yellow or white. All burners should be adjusted this way, on highest flame.

Wolf range cooktop

I just installed a Wolf gas cooktop and had the same problem in that all 4 burners would light just fine but the electronic igniters would not stop clicking on all four. What I found was that the electrical outlet that my gas cooktop was plugged into had the polarity reversed. I tested the outlet with a polarity testing module (you can get one at Home Depot and it checks polarity, grounding, GFI and is handy to have around, small and inexpensive). I plugged it in and the lights told me that the polarity was reversed. I reversed the wires in the outlet (exchanged the white and black wires) put the cover back on, plugged in the cook top and now it works like a champ! no more constant clicking. By the way, we had a cooktop before this one with electronic ignition and never had a problem, apparently it didn't care about the polarity.
