Question about Sony VAIO VGN-TXN25N/B PC Notebook

Vaio VGN-TXN25N, need to remove hard drive

I want to remove the hard drive. I've removed the battery and have removed 8 screws from the bottom - every screw that had a little arrow pointing to it.

I thought the next step would be to lift either the keyboard or separate the case. The case won't quite separate. I found tabs and removed the keyboard (the ribbon came out with it), but still don't see how to get to the hard drive.

Advice please?

Thanks for trying. I already looked in the obvious places. It is not easily accessible by simply removing a cover from the frame.

Usually the laptop hard disk is only reside in the side of the laptop. Sometime you need to remove the small cover first before you can see the screw. Look in the right side of the laptop or in the back but there is also laptop model that the hard disk is below of the keyboard.

Remove touch pad on vgn-cs100

It might be easier to just replace the whole Palmrest that comes with the touch pad.

You'll need to take the laptop apart.

Ok, on a laptop you need to get some cups and label them to put the screws in so you will know where they came from. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery then start removing all the screws from the bottom of the laptop. Then remove all the devices from the bottom of the laptop such as the hard drive, the memory, dvd/cd drive, wireless card, etc. Take note of how the wires are on the wireless card, those are the antennas.

Look inside the battery case, hard drive case, memory case and dvd drive slot for screw. Some screws on the bottom case in inside of some of the device cases might have the icon of a keyboard next to it. Those screws hold the keyboard in place.

Turn the laptop over, remove the strip that is just above the keyboard but be careful because a cable might be attached to it. Then remove the screws that hold the keyboard in place that are under where the strip was and gently lift the keyboard out because there is definitely a cable under it.

Next you can remove the screws from the lcd hinges at the corners and lift the lcd screen off, also note that you will have to pull the antennas cable and the lcd cable when you remove the lcd.

Next start removing any screws that hold the palmrest in place. Take note of any cables that are attached to the palmrest and remove them then lift the palmrest off.

Next start removing any screws you see that hold the motherboard to the bottom case, then lift the motherboard out an start replacing the fan.

A digital camera to take pictures will be most helpful to refresh you memory of where things were.

My compuer Sony Vaio VNG-TXN25N doesn t sound anymore.

Hi solesantelic...

Look for the speaker icon on your desktop in the right bottom portion of the sceen.
When you find it, RIGHT click on it, you will have two choices to make, choose and check each one of the choices to make sure that NONE of the boxes on each
choice has a checkmark in Mute,if there is a check mark then uncheck it
After that is down, then LEFT click on the speaker icon and make sure that the slider is all the way to the top and that the Mute does not have a check mark,if it does remove the check.
If that does not work the re-install the audio driver for your computer.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

How to remove hard drive from Sony Vaio Laptop VGN - NR110E?

On the bottom of the laptop there should be a cover for a quare or rectangle shaped slot, most likely with two screws in it. Unscrew these, and the hard drive bay will come loose. Just unscrew it from the bay and it should be free.

How to change hard drive on Sony VGN-N130G?

I need the model number printed on the front of your case, VGN-N130G does not exsist on the sony web support page. http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/index.aspx?l=en_GB

Usually there is a cover under your laptop that is marked.
Remove 1 or 2 screws and your harddrive should just slide out.

Need service manual or instructions on replacing hard drive on a Sony Viao VGN-ns135e or Sony VGN-NS100 Series Laptop

The hard drive is inside of the laptop and not accessible from the outside. The way to get to the hard drive is to take out all the screws from the bottom of the laptop, take the keyboard out and there may be some screws there that need to be removed. The dvd drive needs to come out and where the dvd drive normally is, check for screws there.

At this point you can remove the top cover assembly and you will see the hard drive. Remove the screws that are holding the hard drive in place and then it will come out.

I need to install a harddrive into a sony vaio laptop computer( a vgn-nr 220e series) so how do I get to the harddrive?

You will want to remove 15 screws from the bottom of the laptop, there are three different lengths so you will want to mark them so you know where to put them back. (if you put a longer screw in the wrong hole you can kill the motherboard) Then lift the bottom cover from the computer. The hard drive is then visible, remove the one screw that holds the hard drive in place and then slide the drive to the right and lift it out. Four more screws hold the hard drive in its bracket remove the drive from the bracket (note how it comes out so you make sure you put it back in the same way) Put everything back in reverse order. Respond to this same post if you have any problems.

Replacing Hard Drive in a Sony VAIO SZ330P/B

Turn your Vaio upside down and look for an easy access panel or release lever to remove the hard drive carriage. You will probably need a small Philip's screw driver to remove the carriage, but I don't think you need to remove the keyboard.

Removing the hard drive to a Sony VAIO VGN-S660PNotebook?

On this line of Sony models replacing the hard drive is a pain because the computer must be taken completely apart to get to the hard drive. It is located under the palm rest. I looked up the Sony manual for this model and it does not show how to replace the hard drive -- meaning it should only be done by a trained tech.

You'll have to remove all the screws from the bottom and underneath the keyboard. Carefully detach the keyboard and set it aside. Once all the screws are remove from the laptop you should be able to separate the top of the casing from the bottom, this usually requires a small amount of force but too much force will crack the plastic! Underneath you will find the hard drive cage.

Also, some laptop vendors like to pull the 'hidden screw' trick! There may be a screw underneath the CD-rom drive so that may have to be removed or under some of the rubber feat on the laptop.

I couldn't find a photos or manuals that show how to do this, but these guys say they have a manual for a small fee. http://www.9manuals.com/Vaio2.htm

They want $5.99 for the manual but that is much cheaper than paying a technician to do it for you.

Good luck and be careful!
