I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. I have had the laptop for less than a year and all of a sudden when I powered on my laptop the screen had a red tint to it. It continues to have these speckled red spots all over the screen for the entire time I use the laptop. Sometime the screen will correct itself but it does not happen all the time and it there is no specific amount of time that passes before the screen fixes itself. I ahve tried changing the display setting and adjusting the graphics card setting but nothing seems to work. Please help! thank you. Bobby Palsa (charlesrpalsa@gmail.com)

    thank you mangoeater2. I will look into the video card failure. not sure if i can change that out myself. i am thinking i may have to call in a professional for that! i appreciate your incite very much though. take care. charles III

It is probably your video card failing.

If you can try either another video card in your computer or your card in another computer, this will enable to to see if the same is happening with the other unit.

Obviiuosly if your card does the same in another computer or there is no problem with the new card then you have identified your problem, the solution being to buy a new video card (Note: ANY modern video card will work well in a computer - you do not have to spend a fortune to get good graphics - I am told that PCI Express cards are preferred over AGP cards though I don't know why).

When I turn on my HP Pavillion dv6000 it starts up but when it gets to the screen where you type in your password its black with the cursor on it.

If using the Restoration Disk does not cure the problem, then I have bad news.

The HP Pavilion dv2000 series, Pavilion dv6000 series, and dv9000 series, have an inherent problem with the graphics chip.

Screen turns blank all of sudden and works normal after switching of the system for 1 hr or so.


You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

See if your unit qualifies for HP's limited warranty, mine did and they repaired it for free.
HP has identified a hardware issue with certain HP Pavilion dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 and Compaq Presario V3000/V6000 series notebook PCs, and has also released a new BIOS for these notebook PCs, version F.39 for dv2000/V3000, and version F.3D for dv6000/dv9000/V6000.

When i shut my laptop the tv i use as my monitor goes blank.


Right click the power icon in the system tray (should look like a little plug with a lightning bolt on it.)  Click on "adjust power properties."  Click on the "advanced" tab, then where it says, "When I close the lid of my portable computer," select "Do Nothing."

I have a crappy HP pavillion dv6000 laptop, after working fine on shutdown last night, i turned on this morning and it would not boot up. the lights on the volume bar lit up, flashed, and went off...thats...


It's acting like the juice is drained in the battery. Are you sure it's charged? Do you have a spare battery you can swap out?

Some of them come with two. I actually have the same series laptop (a Pavilion dv6258se, 6000 series), and they can be a little flaky.

I also had an issue where my HP power cable (that connects the laptop to the wall outlet) was faulty, and needed to be replaced, because it stopped charging the battery. I ended up purchasing a generic replacement power cable on eBay.

My laptop screen does not always switch on when i turn on my laptop the laptop is a hp pavilion dv6000


i know now,we have the same version of laptop..and your using vista home preium right..well anyway,thats normal..cos vista really boots too slow..so when u were logged in,so,if it must and not important,disable all things that were being activated or the atart up program..
and that thing really goes after u installed updates..
the only solution is,be patient..

LAPTOP HP PAVILION DV2000 problem


Hello!

That beeps indicated that there is a problem in the video Graphics adapter and in the memory.

try remove and clean the memory and then fix it back, im sure that would resolve your problems. however if this not solve then your should replace the memory.

If affraid to do so, then maybe let the repairman do it for you.

Are you working on battery without connecting the laptop to the mains power ? Please put the laptop on adapter power and recheck. Rajesh
