Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Good day i really hope you can help me out, cause I'm really feeling blue about my ZEN, cause i love it so much. I was transferring some files to my creative Zen 32GB when, it looked like the transfer was about complete and my Zen froze. i left it alone for a while about 3-5 minutes but nothing happened, so i turned of the computer. before that though, the screen on my zen was blank and the blue light which says its on is light. both the blank screen and light are still on, the device doesn't even respond to being charged and when placed in a USB port the computer says it has malfunctioned. Can you help please?

Hi

Put a pin into the hole in the top and then the blue light will go off and you can switch it on again.
Or stuck a needle in the little reset button at the button to get it work again.

Please check this link bellow, if it helps…

Thank you Guru for your response. I thought of doing that but i thought it would have erased all the information on my ZEN which is not backup at the moment. However though, i opened the back of the device in hopes to remove the battery to reset (without erasing data) and turn the device off. I only made it to removing the back though as i didn't have the tools to remove the screws. Today i found the ZEN off so i charged it; apparently the battery died overnight and it was in critical power mode. After it was fully charged i turned the device on, it said "rebuilding", when thats done it powered up as usual. You have no idea how elated i was when i found my ZEN WORKING again! I'm playing it right now sms.

( the battery was fully charged when it malfunctioned in my computer so i found the whole situation quite strange.)

This can be fixed,

Most caes what we got here is a bad battery, now most people will call me nuts but once they changed there battery they found there device now fuctional. The battery is inside and I would recommend highly you send it in to have it changed out verses doing it yourself.

The unit will be reformatted and returned to your in working order the people who do this is www.pdarepair.com yes you do need to send it in unless you can find someone local.

there is no magic tricks, RESETS or anything you would might have though before comming ot fixya.com so please be advised the only fix here is changing out the battery thus the unit will loose all data.

Thanks

My Zen mp3 player wont work.

If you can try to open the files on your computer by search files option, then opne them and save the lot to a secured folder. Then completely format the device, erasing all the date stored. reset teh device once again and now put back antivirus scanned files back from your PC saved folder. Please check all the files for any error befroe you reload. I hope this will help you out. Good day

Can't transfer files to my Zen!

Some portable medias such as mp3's and mp4's run applications to transfer files to and from your PC.

If your using a desktop computer... connect your zen to the cpu... you should get some sort of notification of the connection.

Then, got to my computer and locate the zen as a drive. Drives are things such as your local hard disk, floppy, or DVD and is preceded by a letter such as (C:) or (A:).

The Zen should show up as a removable disk and have a preceding letter of the latest found drive.

If you want to add music and such to it... select the discovered zen drive, right-click, and select explore.

This will show all the unhidden content of your zen. Place the file(s) you want on or off the zen.
Music files should be placed according to the folder which would be labeled music... ect...

If this doesn't help please notify me of the problem... ^^ thanxx

Tracks showing up double

about the a-z thing, i dunno.

about the deleting part, it depends where you're deleting it from.

if you listen to it in play all and delte it from ther, it wont work. you have to find it in the shuffle mode (very annoying, i know) and delete it there. good luck.

Can't Add files to mp3 after reinstalling-device not found.

I have an older ZEN, so I'm not sure if I have Creative Media Source 5, but mine never worked really well either. My Windows Media Player recognizes mine, so I just sync to that library. I even have gotten a new laptop since I got my ZEN and I never downloaded anything, I just connected it to Window's Media. I hope that's helpful!

My creative Zen 8Gb wont allow more than 597 songs..

I'll run a cleanup on your zen, if that doesn't work then you should format it and re-transfer everything. Additionally, you may want to upgrade your players firmware.

How to enter the Zen’s Recovery Mode for Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware, and Reboot:

1. With the Zen off, press and hold the "play/pause" button.

2. Continue to hold until you perform Steps 3 and 4. If you accidentally release the button, start the procedure again.

3. Gently push the end of a thin object (like a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole. You should be able to feel the release click of the button.

4. Slide the On/Off/Lock switch towards the power button and hold until the boot screen appears on the display.

The Recovery Mode screen appears, and four menu items are shown:

Clean Up: A cleanup of the file system and database files takes place. All (uncorrupted) data should stay in tact. When the cleanup is complete, select Reboot. Your player restarts and starts rebuilding its music library. All files should remain intact unless they were detected as being corrupt.

Format All: This will completely reset the Zen and remove all user stored files on it.

Reload Firmware: This will prepare the Zen to accept a reload, new, or older firmware based on the specific firmware file you download and execute on a computer. Selecting this option will prevent your Zen from being able to boot, so make sure you have the firmware file on you computer and ready to load.

Reboot: This will execute a soft reboot of the Zen's operating system.

How to Clean Up, Delete Temp Files, and Reformat the Zen using Zen Media Explorer:

1. Plug the Zen.
2. Go to Zen Media Explorer.
3. Select "Settings and Information".
4. Select the "Tools" Tab.
5. This page will show you the options to Clean Up, Delete Temp Files, and Reformat the Zen.

(Warning: When reformatting, you will lose all files you put on the Zen)

It won't transfer my zen vision M songs from my computer

I've been able to solve the problem I had with transferring files to my Zen Vision M.

I uninstalled all components of Media Source 5 and Zen Vision M Series Explorer on my PC. I then reinstalled them again. I also rolled back to Windows Media 10 (as I recently upgraded to v 11) and unchecked Sync with Zen Vision M in tools/options/devices on WM player. I then run the Clean up in recovery mode on the Zen. When the PC restarts after the installation of the software it will ask for you to connect the player. The PC should now successfully transfer files to the player.

Hope it works for you too.
