When i opened my Konica Minolta DiMAGE G400 Digital Camera
    it shows: Card protected

  • Anonymous Mar 11, 2009

i have formatted a 64MB SD card WITH the camera and after the battery sucking VUTURE of a camera died, i later tried to take a picture and it says: "CARD PROTECTED"

i even formatted a 64 MB SD card on a MAC (osx) & PC (xp) and the camera STILL says "CARD PROTECTED".  regardless of FAT, FAT16, FAT32.

WTF!!?!  the SD card is not LOCKED so there shouldn't be a problem!  a capacity of 47 pictures registers in the top right corner, but the damn thing says "CARD PROTECTED"  when i click to take a picture.  don't they test these things?  or is this just a rarity?  every OTHER camera i have EVER used NEVER had this problem... EVER!  sad, pathetic, ridiculous.  i think i actually hate this camera.

it does have a nice screen tho...gotta admit.

Memory card is protected {reset switch on memory Card} ? Go To review

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Want to copy some files to a memory card from a laptop but it says that the memory card is write-protected. how do i remove the write-protection to copy the files.

Some memory cards are having a write protection switch integrated on the side or on the back of the memory card for preventing the content from being erased or overwritten by accident, just like floppy disks. Both SD Memory Card and xD-Picture Card have their write protection switch on the side of the memory card in contrast to the Memory Stick PRO and some Memory Stick Duo that have their switch on the back of the card.

The SmartMedia Card is also supporting write protection but not with a switch. For protecting the SmartMedia Card's content you need to put a sticker on the card's write protection pad. It is the circle that can be found in the middle of the card, when facing the front of the card.

Says this memory card is protected - can't take

Kindly follow the steps below

Remove the memory card from the camera.
Look at the memory card very well, you will see a slide switch on the side edge of the memory.
Move the switch to the unlock position.
Put the memory card back to the camera.
You can then start using it.

Thanks

"Memory card is protected"

This error message indicates that the memory card is locked. The switch on the memory card is in the write-protect position. Reset the switch as shown on the camera screen.
