Check the vent hose for kinks . Also check the exhaust at the outside to make sure it has good air flow to the outside . A dryer either heats or not . Due to it heats , the only possible problem is vent hose blockage .

Amana dryer runs. Took the vent off. Saw glow. didn't stay on.

Well it could be a problem with the flame detecter. 287476c.jpgWith age the bi-metal tends to take a lot longer to reset so that the ignitor can begin another heat cycle. The ignitor is either gonna be good or badff65907.jpg no in between. The coils that open the gas valve tend to get hot and short out with a little age.4c17c1c.jpg That is a common problem with these good old gas dryers. You need to inspect the blower housing and filter area for air restrictions.a0d89cc.jpg Lets see what else? Oh yeah the control mounted on the blower housing could be bad. It has 4 terminals,3829896.jpg 2 small ones that operate a heater that heats up the bi-metal disc inside to make it shut down faster for knits and permapress stuff. Clever ain't it? Note:These photos are correct in nature to this response but not specific to your model. Now that you have an idea what to look for you need to be sure and order the exactamundo by using your model number amigo. Get parts:

Why do my dryer leaves my clothes damp?

Could be a venting problem. If you are using plastic venting this doesn't work as well as metal venting. Check behind the dryer and make sure that the venting is not crushed.
Check outside when the dryer is running to see if you have good air exhaust.
If this is an electric dryer, disconnect the vent from the dryer and dry a load of clothes with out the vent and see if it works better. If the cloths come out dry you know it is a venting problem.

Hi I am trying to clean my drain unsder my washer. I do not know how to pull the cover off.?? It appears I need special alan wrenchs for two little screws..?? any ideas??

Though the idea of repairing a clothes dryer can be pretty intimidating, the truth is that some types of repairs are surprisingly easy. Yes, dryers appear to be built like huge, impervious metal boxes, but they are typically pretty easy to open and relatively simple to fix.

As shown at How Clothes Dryers Works, a clothes dryer has a motor that turns a big drum containing the clothes, a heat source for blowing warm air into the drum to dry the clothes, and controls for operating the motor and heat source.
Some dryers have an electric element to do the heating while others utilize a gas flame; the latter must be vented.
Clothes dryer problems generally occur because the heat source doesn't heat properly or the motor fails to turn the drum.
If a gas dryer doesn't dry properly, the first thing to check is the pilot light or igniter--it may not be lighting the burner. The second thing to check is the dryer's vent-if it is clogged with lint, the heating system won't work properly.

Pay attention to basic safety measures when working on a dryer. Always unplug the dryer, and turn off the gas supply to a gas dryer at the appliance shutoff valve.
As with most appliances, maintenance will keep your dryer purring. Clean the lint trap after every load, and clean the vent system once a year.
