Question about Simplicity Fashion Pro SW2145 Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

The pedal (speed controller) does not work. It will work for a few stitches and then stop completely. I am not sure what is happening or what I can do to fix it.

I was given a brother cs-8150. The manual says it will operate without foot feed. I tried to use auto sew and machine tells me to change speed controller mode to off. Where do I do that.

Not able to find any online instructions for your machine, so here goes. There may be some confusion as to what foot feed means.

I believe foot feed refers to the feed dogs. When you disable the feed dogs (drop them), then you must manipulate the fabric manually--used mostly for darning or free motion quilting. In essence the feed dogs are no longer moving the fabric for you. Instead, you manually move the fabric and control the speed at which it stitches with your foot control. Perhaps that is why you need to turn off the speed control because you will determine the speed with your foot.

Foot control refers to the foot pedal that you use to control the speed that the machine sews (much like the gas pedal in your car). Some machines have the ability to sew without the use of a foot control unit. To do so, there is usually a button or lever somewhere to start and stop the machine. When activated, the machine will continue to stitch until you stop it.

Hopefully this will help you find a resolution.

Speed control

I haven't sewn on this model in about 10 years, so I am rusty. I don't recall a slide or switch to set the range of stitch speeds, so one of the things you need to do is learn to feather the pedal instead of just stomping it. You can often figure out how to block the pedal travel with a couple thicknesses of cardboard cut to shape, or a piece of pencil eraser to mechanically block the highest pedal pressure, but usually it's just better to learn to control the pedal. Finally, the best free motion quilting is often done with high speed stitching but moderately slow fabric movement.

When I depress the foot pedal on my 2140 nothing happens, yet I can manually sew a few stitches and my light is on?

..... what do you mean by 'manually sew a few stitches'?
If you test your foot control on another machine or vice versa, you can verify if it is the control. Has it sewn a little erratically lately? Could be the contact tracer pins in the foot control.

My Husqvarna Emerald continuse to stitch after I release the foot pedal. Although the stitching is at a greatly reduced speed it won't stop unless I turn the machine off.

It sounds like the food pedal is sticking. I have had this happen only to find that the pedal had drifted under my mobile thread drawer and was unable to lift up when I took my foot off it - yikes - looked like a ghost was operating my machine! However, it you are sure the foot pedal is not stuck under a piece of furniture, perhaps the spring inside is not decompressing completely. It needs to be checked. I am not that familiar with the Emerlad models - do they have a Stop/Start button on the machine itself? If yes, perhaps this button is stuck in a little? Check that also.

Goes too fast, has no slow speed, sews several stitches at a time and I am unable to stop when I need to

Sometimes the foot pedal sticks, tap on it a few times with your foot to get it to stop, if that doesn't work, unplug the machine for a few minutes then try, if that doesn't work then it will need to go in for repair.

Izek Speed Control

Have you tried removing the batteries and cartridge and re-intalling? Also I learned the pressure foot must be down for my izek to accept setting changes. Hope this helps.

Foot pedal and thread guide

Same thing happened to my CE-200. It would only stitch one stitch at a time or else it would run full speed. My husband made an adjustment through a small hole on the back of the pedal and it now works much better. The adjustment hole apparently allows you to set the sensitivity of the electronics inside the pedal. He turned it slightly toward the + direction. It took a couple of small adjustments to get it to work nearly normal again.
