Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My coleman RV AC 8000 series will not run - not even the fan. When I turn it on, I get a hum, and thats all. At one point, I gave the fan a little 'Push" and it ran nice and cold for hours. Once it turned off, it wouldnt start again

It can be the start capacitor,or the fan itself can be bad, replace the start capacitor, then if this does not help, replace the fan motor, sense you can start the fan by hand, and it runs for hours,it must be the start capacitor.

Sounds like possible fan capacitor failure. If your not familiar with capacitors, please find someone who is, as they can give a fatal electrical jolt if not handled properly.

Coleman mach rv roof ac, the fan comes on but the compressor doesn't, i've replaced all capacitors and stll is not comming on, how do i check voltage to the compressor to maske sure i have pow

At the compressor connectors you have a live and a neutral phase. The live usually goes to a ptc relay starting mechanism which you can test with a meter. If you can disconnect the relay and check the windings of the compressor from one pin to the other two it will tell you if the compressor is open circuit. It is more often than not an overload fault.

Fan not blowing in coleman trs rv roof air

well check a few things first....have someone remove the cover and reach in with a hand and try to manually spin the blade...free spinning?....then tell the person below to click in the on postion while someone views from up top.....is it humming? or even trying to spin?....if not check the fuse on the RV that protects the A/C unit.....good?.....now replace the capacitor ( it the silver or gray can looking thing that the motor wires run to) only the correct size will work w/o causing further motor damage.

RVP 8000 Series Compressor wont stay running.

Try shutting everything else off temporarily that would draw any hydro in the unit, or even shut off all breakers except AC, and see what happens. See if it runs longer with everything else off. Double check nothing else on same circuit as your AC, and also confirm that 12/2 & not 14/2 cable size used for AC.

AC motor not starting

You do not need a new motor, more than likely the contacts are going bad. You can clean these or replace them if you are mechanically inclined.

RV A/C fan won't start on its own

This could be the problem. It is more likely that the motor bearing is bad. Take the fan capacitor and have it tested. Or replace it, (under $20). Was the fan motor loud before this happened? Hopefully it is just the capacitor, the motor runs $60 - $100 and is a FUN to replace.
