Hi,
Enter setup on remote then go to screen settings then change the vienig screen it might be on auto but this changes depending on what your watching you can do it that way or their should be a button on the remote you can press that changes from auto to 16/9 and 4/3 the button might say exp or have a square with arrows pointing out its usually near the source button where you can choose what av channel your using like for dvd and video etc.

You have a look and then ill look for the right way to do it and post back in few minutes let me know how you get on and if your still stuck ill tell you when i find out but give me few minutes ok

The button you need is in the top row of buttons its not the first button its the one just to the right of this ok

So its top row on control top row second button in press this a few times wii change the viewing screen to fit the whole screen ok.
this should now of solved your problem.

Let me know if you need further assistance ok

No, the optics are set for the specific size of the screen. A 55 or a 50 would leave you with a smaller picture and thats even if electronically they are the same

Our newly purchased Toshiba - REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV has a fuzzy "snowy" picture. Direct TV is our satelite provider.

First check if this happens in other external video source as well, like DVD/CD/VCR, etc. If it does, get the set replaced under warranty.

If it happens only with the Direct TV setup, try unplugging the set top box from both power supply and TV. Wait about a minute and reconnect. If the problem is rectified, the issue is with the setop box. Call Direct TV in this case.
