They are called 'mouse nipples'. Also known as: TrackPoint; PointStick; NX Point; Pointing Stick; Stick Pointer; PointStick; QuickPoint; Track Stick; AccuPoint; FineTrack

At the moment you can buy them on Ebay

Item number: 130216827092 Cost £2.40 for 6, seems they are a standard fit but not sure so could be an idea to email the seller first.

Describe your HP Pavilion dv9000z 17" Notebook Laptop PC PC Notebook Problem my internal mouse is locked, I dont know why and dont know how to fix it (I dont use an external mouse or keyboard). ...

Hi melissamhahn..
Try this solution to your problem
*************************************
To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Note: Mac computers use "F2" to enable and disable the touchpad.
D. Sony Vaio Users: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click the Mouse icon.
Look at the top left hand side of the page, at the top and make sure that the "Tapping" box is unchecked, if it is checked then, you will uncheck it.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

Every time I boot my EEE PC the touchopad is disabled. I plug in a USB mouse, enable the Elan smartpad through the properties of the Elan smartpad and it works ok until I reboot again. How do I enable it...

Usually there is a FN key that will enable the touchpad. I have EEPC and mine is the little blue FN key (usually next to the CTRL and Windows Key) + one of the number keys. Look for a little blue symbol that looks like your touchpad.

As for it being disabled every time you start, I find that very weird. Sometimes installing a wireless mouse, installs software that tells the system to disable the touchpad, so that the 2 don't conflict when using the mouse.

My mouse causes me to have to gets in the retype all the time cause it goes back up in my sentence or highlights my words blue

This is a very common issue with mouse pads build into laptops computer and can be avoid by moving your hands away from the mouse pad (meaning to open more) during the typing process. You might also want to try to disable temporarily the mouse pad by pressing the mouse button sometimes located on top of your mouse cell or pad or, by pressing FN key along with "F's" key(from F2 to F12). There should be a pad with a hand meaning to either disabling or enabling your mouse pointer.

Finally, try to use and external mouse.

Good Luck!!

I am unable to locate the bluetooth setting on my acer 6930. I am trying to use a bluetooth mouse and the button to 'turn on' the bluetooth function is not working. I have tried to locate the bluetooth...

You didn't list an operating system but as I have a 6930 with Vista, I can give you what I know based on mine. If you go to Control Panel - Bluetooth Devices, you will find options to add bluetooth devices and a settings button for devices you have added. However, the 6930 does not come with bluetooth built-in, just the capability to turn it on and off. If your mouse did not come with a bluetooth adapter for the computer, you'll have to get one separately to use your mouse.

How do i change the mouse buttons on a compaq 6735s

Are trying to switch to lefthanded settings?

Converting to Left Hand Mouse for Windows XP Users:
  • Call up the Start menu by clicking on the Start button or by pressing the Windows logo key (located between the Ctrl and Alt keys). Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + Esc
  • Click on Settings and select Control Panel.
  • Double click on the Mouse icon to display the Mouse Properties
  • Select the Buttons tab and click on the check box marked Switch primary and secondary buttons to set the mouse buttons up for left-handed use.
  • Click OK or press Enter to confirm your choice and exit the mouse properties (note: you should be using the mouse’s right button now to make selection)

The arrow is frozen on my laptop other than that the pc is working normally

Could be the mouse lock key. I am unsure as to which key it is on yours. Mine is the F9 key. it will have a picture of 2 mouse on , 1 with a no go sign over it (circle with a diagonal line through) try pressing the "fn" key and F9 and see if this unlocks the cursor.

Whilst typing the cursor moves to another part of the document

If your laptop has the option too you can turn off touch pad through a switch above the touch pad.

If you can't find this, or you don't have one, simply go to the run command and type in devmgmt.msc, ok.

Once in the device manager go "Mice and Other Pointing Devices"
look for your touchpad, right click on it and select disable.

Please note, some laptops wont let you disable to the touchpad, mine wont, but mine has an on and off key.

ON/OFF Key
Touch Pad On
Touch Pad Off

This will keep the mouse from moving whole you type, but I suggest you get a regular mouse, especially if you have to disable the device with the Device manager.
