Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have an het3 elite washer. I have done all the trouble shooting....removing hoses and cleaning out debri. i took the pump assembly out and noticed that the "fins" 3 out of 4 were broken. Does this mean I will need a new pump anyways before I reassemble?

Yes sir..  those are the impeller fins and with only one you are not going to get much push on the water to expel it.  time to replace it and make sure all pockets are cleaned out before washing..

What does the trouble code f2 mean for the kenmore elite 4t washing machine?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F02 is a drain error in your Kenmore washer, if the unit is unable to drain then after 4 minutes it will display suds and then F02. The first thing that should be done is cleaning the drain hose and the drain pump filter, you can take out three torx screws from the bottom front panel and then clean the area completely, lift up the cap to clean the filter. If the error returns then check the drain pump if it is not working then replacing the pump is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Kenmore front load washer drain problem

Why not use a piece of scrap
hose cut it a little longer than
you want then experiment its
easier to shorten than lengthen.
That way you start out with a
clean hose, and you can kill to

I have a het3 elite front load washing machine. I was getting SUD and F02 errors. I took hoses and pump apart and saw debri and removed it. I noticed that the"fins" attatched to the motor of the pump were...

You will need to run the machine with straight water or use bleach and run a few cycles to remove any suds.
If the pump is loose, plugged, or has any missing fins on it, it will need to be replaced. If you leave it unplugged for some time before switching parts, there should be no problem getting it started again.

remove the bottom panel below tha door. youll see the drain pump in the center, fronr of washer. there is a black hose going from the pump to the bottom of the tub. remove that hose. at the end of the hose there is a plastic ball that is supposed to seal the end of the hose. more than likely there is lint build up on the ball or around where the ball seal. clean the ball and the hose and reinstall. you should be fine after that

F02 code - won't spin

You you probably need a pump, but try this first.  Remove the pump filter again and put you finger into the hole going to the pump and see if there is anything in it and see if you can turn the pump impeller. If this checks ok, Put filter back in and put washer into drain/spin. It should spin since you have drained the tub. If so replace the pump.

If it still doesn't spin remove the top of the washer and find the pressure switch. It will have a rubber hose going from it down to the bottom rear of the tub. Remove the hose from the switch and make sure you can blow through it. Hook hose back to switch and try drain/spin again. If washer does not spin now, you will need to do some trouble shooting with a volt/ohm meter or have a tech come out.

Post back to let me know what you find out.
