Sony KV2649r 26 inch console tv shuts down

I have an older Sony KV2649r 26 inch console television. When you turn it on it will work ok for about 3 minutes. Then it cuts off.If you wait about 5 minutes it will turn on again.I replaced thp-601.The old one was heating up a lot.The new one is not as hot when the set is on but it didn't fix the problem.Any other ideas what is making it cut off? When the inside temperature is low it seems to work ok but when it is warmer inside it cuts off.Thanks.Bill.

SOURCE: T.V WILL NOT STAY ON: JVC AV-27F702 27" TV

This sounds like a protection system cutting in. This happens if there is a major fault and continual use would lead to a fire risk.

SOURCE: Samsung DLP TV shuts off

I had the same problem with my Samsung 52" HDLP set turning off by itself. This is a common problem with the Samsung sets and I followed the advice I found online and believed it solved the problem. Remove the lamp cover in the rear of the TV (usually held on by one screw). There is a thermal cut off switch that is activated by the depressing of it by the cover. Factory installation for some reason was not done properly and the switch would not be fully depressed causing the set to shut off. After removing the cover, relace it by seatng the bottom of the cover first to depress the switch and tilting the top of the cover in to close it. Replace the screw &you are done. My set shut itself off for 8 Months before I found this fix. It hasn't shut off since. Good Luck

SOURCE: Our Samsung HL-P4663W DLP is makes noise and shuts off

It is the color wheel, inside the light engine. The bearings get dirty and makes it harder for the wheel to spin causing that whin.

I have a 26 inch Sony Bravia TV. I just noticed that when I turn to particular channels, the TV freezes. The remote and the buttons on the TV cannot change the station nor turn off the TV.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

You have intermitant problems which may be caused by contact resistance or circuit overheating. After it cooled down the tv starts again. Leave TV on standby at all times.

I cant get any picture on my sony tv when i connect my ps3 upto it, yet get a picture instantly on a cheap 26 inch hd tv. i'm using a hdmi cable on both

Silly question -- but are you sure your Sony TV is on the correct HDMI channel? My 32 inch LCD has HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3. You must make sure you plug the PS3 into the correct HDMI channel and make sure you're tuned into the same one.

This could be any of a number of problems try these solutions one of which may work. If they all fail to work you can contact sony directly at:

or
http://www.us.playstation.com/help-support/PS3
  • Remove any obstructions from the vents.
  • Allow at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides for the PLAYSTATION 3.
  • Remove the PLAYSTATION 3 from any cabinets so it is out in the open.
  • Shut the PLAYSTATION 3 down completely and let it cool down to room temperature, then try running it again.
  • If the fan cannot be heard before the system shut down, the PLAYSTATION 3 may need to be sent in for service.
  • If there is no airflow from any of the vents, the system may need to be sent in for service
Hope this helps. Also be sure to rate whether this helped or not.

Cascading white craziness

First thing you should try is using the regular old AV cables. That way we know if it's an hdmi problem or a video problem with the PS3. Hook them up, do the manual video reset ( hold down the power button until you hear a second beep, quickly release) and then post back here with the results.

Sony LCD 52 inch

This sound like you are having problems with the power supply board. Since you are getting a momentary picture and sound the fuses are good but TVs today have "shorts" and "overvoltage" circuitry build in that will shut it down on errors. Someone knowledgeable in electronics will have to isolate the exact cause.

Try resetting the TV by holding down the "up" button on the remote (with the TV powered on) and then, while you hold down the up button on the remote, hit the power button on the TV. This should do a "factory reset" which will wipe all settings in the TV. There is no reason why the TV should not "remember the last input it was on when it was ;last turned off. Also be sure that the TV is not plugged into a switched AC outlet, like the outlet on the back of the cable bix. The TV should be plugged into an output that receives power at all times.
